Even if releasing the video ends up freeing the accused? This is new legal territory. If the prosecution’s release of the video is later deemed prosecutorial misconduct, the assailants could walk free.

If this is such sensitive territory, with fear of tainting a jury etc, why would the Chief and others after viewing the video, come out and *publicly* state it was the worse video he's ever seen while charging them with murder?

Did millions in public not already hear how bad this is by the Chief himself?

At this point in the case, with an active investigation, the video is exempt from Louisiana’s Public Record Law. However, once any of the evidence is filed in court, then it will be a public record.

As far as a tainted jury, I suspect any defense attorney worth his salt is already preparing motions to have the case moved. But I don’t know where else they could hold the trial, as the coverage is high profile all over the state.
