*BUMP*
(My thoughts, exactly on THIS case!)
Sad JBT ping.
An earlier thread if anyone is interested in reading the comments thereon:

I think you will learn that these clydes were not real cops but part of a thug group of prosess servers with guns. One of them had a hardon for Few’s wife.
Have no fear, they will be here in force explaining and alibiing.
I ran across these as well:

n October, 2011, Lt. Derrick Stafford was indicted by a Rapides Parish grand jury on two counts of aggravated rape. The case was resolved, we reached out to the clerk of court’s office for the outcome, we are awaiting those documents.
Lt. Derrick Stafford also has five pending civil lawsuits involving him in Avoyelles Parish.

wo Louisiana police officers who have been charged with murdering a six-year-old boy after they opened fire on this fleeing father worked for a controversial local courts agency, it has been revealed. Norris Greenhouse Jr. , 23, a reserve officer, and Lt. Derrick Stafford , 32, were working for the Marksville Marshalls service - a local court service that traditionally served warrants but has recently acquired squad cars and begun patrolling the town and issuing tickets under the stewardship of a leader who is also a school bus driver and has no formal law enforcement qualification

Of course the kid did not have it coming.
As I understand it, dad ran. The police chased. It is unclear if they knew a kid was in the car. It is unclear what the warrant was for. Maybe he was known for violence? Chasing fleeing vehicles is not necessarily wrong. I also think that shooting at someone shooting at you or attempting to run you over is ok, even if there is a kid there. That sounds harsh, but I am not the one who put the kid in harm’s way. If the policy is not to shoot when kids are there, why not take a kid on every potentially violent venture?
People do this stuff all the time. The Somalis used women and children as cover all the time. The Iraqis too. I’m not saying dad used the kid as cover, but dad is responsible for the kid’s death, not the cop. What are the alternatives? Don’t serve warrants around kids? Let all perps with kids go? Remove kids from criminals?
How’s that for boot polishing?
There was a case along these lines years ago in Illinois. Some folks were using bad credit cards and were held by store security. One of them was a felon on parole and fled. He stole a car and led a chase. He crashed the car and stole another when a driver stopped to help what he thought was a traffic accident. He crashed that car and tried to take another without success. Instead, he takes a kid and uses him as a shield. An officer responding exited his vehicle, drew his weapon, and dropped the perp with a head shot. The cop was criticized for not issuing a warning and for how it might have turned out if he had missed. Had he missed, would the cop have been the kid’s killer? I say no.
The officers obviously didn’t announce that they “felt threatened” by the little boy. That shows bad training. If they had uttered a statement to the effect that they feared for their lives they would have been cleared of anything at all.
The little boy was white. I’m sure this will all fade away in a few days.
I thought that this was really going to be a big deal. 24/7 news coverage for weeks, rioting, Al Sharpton and 0bama pounding their fists on the podium. Then I found out it was 2 black cops and a white kid. So...not so much.
Terrible, poor kid. RIP.
