Louisiana Lt. Gov. Jay Dardenne, a Republican who was eliminated from the state's gubernatorial race in the jungle primary last month, has endorsed Democrat John Bel Edwards over Republican Sen. David Vitter.
Dardenne announced his support for Edwards at a news conference at Louisiana State University on Thursday, a day after the Vitter campaign rolled out an endorsement of its own from former Republican Louisiana Gov. Mike Foster.
The race has split Team Dardenne, which, along with supporters of Republican Scott Angelle, came up short in the October primary. Earlier this month, Dardenne's spokeswoman, Marsanne Golsby, announced her support for Edwards. But on Monday, Dardenne's former campaign manager, Jay Vicknair, started working for Vitter.
A poll released Monday found Edwards leads Vitter 54 percent to 38 percent with just over two weeks away from the November 21 runoff.

Is this more proof that GOPers would rather have a Democrat in charge than a conservative or is there something I don’t know about Vitter?
Where's the "THAT'S RACIST!" kid?
The endorsement by the sitting Republican is indeed treachery. It’s political treason. If you don’t support the candidate of your party, just don’t endorse at all.
Yep.
Just ask Jeb! about who HE will support once out of the race.
Edwards is a lying pos and a true Marxist. He’s no conservative Democrat by any means using teems like “shared prosperity”
I pray the people of Louisiana wake up.
Unless you take into account how big a POS Vitter is.
Let Democrats reward each other for a lack of morality and not let ourselves be the same way.
The Ghost of Huey Long still haunts the halls of Baton Rouge.
Louisiana’s jungle primary creates some interesting runoff contest. A democrat black female,
Geri Broussard Baloney, who lost in the attorney general race endorsing a republican,
former Congressman Jeff Landry, in the runoff against the two term Incumbent Attorney
General Buddy Caldwell.
Turnout to some degree will depend upon runoffs in local races, imo. Also democrat
money in New Orleans get out the vote may will play some factor.
Typical of gope Democrats.
Gopes and Democrats are the same overal organization. The Republican Party/e is a subdivision of the Democrat Party.
The voters can’t forget Vitter’s huge lapse in morality. Jindal’s incompetence also tainted the well and consequently Vitter gets hurt by association.
His dad was a crony of Eddie, Eddie has said “distant cousin”, obviously he doesn’t want that known.
Edwards is backed by the Black power Obama race pimps and the public union swine, he must be stopped, period. How the state is governed is more important that your personal distaste about where Vitter stuck it.
This turd Dardenne is a RINO.
Thanks for the information. I don’t think I would like to have that known as well.
muslims, child molesters, registered Democrats....all the same to me.
John Bel Edwards father Frank Edwards Jr. was assistant commissioner of administration
under the former governor Edwin Edwards from 1983-86.
Thanks.
“If you donât support the candidate of your party, just donât endorse at all.”
Absolutely. It’s not like David Vitter is a RINO and I think people should be willing to forgive a guy who’s made some personal mistakes - especially considering it was almost 10 years ago!
