Maybe the theory is a teaching of Dr. Carson’s church and he wants to adhere to his church’ beliefs.
Why build a pyramidal shaped building to store grain? And why is there so little open volume inside? And why do you find dead people interred in there? They buried Pharoah in old grain warehouses?
Not many people know this, but the ancient Egyptians had a very sophisticated approach to taking care of people in their old age. They taxed workers when they were young, and kept the taxes in the Pyramids for safekeeping. When they were too old to work, each generation could be supported by those currently working.
