it’s really quite awesome when some smart-ass gets exposed as well…just an ass. And it’s doubly enjoyable when it’s a liberal smart-ass.
Today a blogger named Wes Stiles could barely contain his excitement over seeing footage of Ted Cruz holding his gun…backwards. In fact he even created a little video clip of it for his tweet.
Hey @TedCruz, you're holding your gun backwards: https://t.co/orXK3FVXOZ pic.twitter.com/gpvCgKFbYU — Wes Siler (@IndefiniteWild) November 3, 2015 |
There’s just one TINY little problem. He’s wrong. And the twitterverse wasted no time in pummeling him.
@IndefiniteWild @tedcruz Just a guess, dude, but this observation will not go well for you. — TestaDuda (@TestaDuda) November 3, 2015 |
Hey @IndefiniteWild! You know absolutely NOTHING about firearms, do you? https://t.co/8kR1jV3qwW — Brad Thor (@BradThor) November 3, 2015 |
@IndefiniteWild @Gizmodo @tedcruz That's how you're meant to carry a break action gun. (Note the lack of shells in the chamber facing you.) — TWM71 (@TWM71) November 3, 2015 |
People who hate guns routinely step on rakes. It's hilarious. https://t.co/cWs3mmZkf1 — John Ekdahl (@JohnEkdahl) November 3, 2015 |
@IndefiniteWild @tedcruz people who want gun control don't know how to control guns — William Norwood (@williamn95) November 3, 2015 |
Yep them thar is the problem. And we bitter clingers are never letting go.
[Note: This article was compiled by bitter clinger, Michele Hickford]
Liberals writing about things they know nothing about. Business as usual, I would say.
Good grief - what an idiot. Obviously Wes has no experience AT ALL with guns ... I’m surprised he even recognized that was what Cruz was carrying!
I don’t even understand how the lib made this mistake.
He’s right. That’s NOT the right way to carry an AK-47.
What an idiot...
I saw a different picture, straight on front shot, and noticed how he carried the shotgun immediately. It’s the standard way to carry in competition or skeet shoots etc.
I never carried my single shot that way, it was always loaded and facing the other direction when over my shoulder, or over my arm pointed toward the ground when carried in front.
But Ted is doing it right.
Idiots don’t realize gun control means hitting your target...I always follow a couple of very strict rules..
1. There is no such thing as an unloaded gun. It’s loaded until I open the chamber and see for myself.
2. Never point it at anything you don’t intend to shoot. Ever.
3. Keep it clean an oiled. (and just because a little oil is good, does not mean a lot is better.)
4. Keep it out of reach of youngsters.
When carrying in the woods or competition always, ALWAYS keep it pointed in a safe direction, loaded or not.
yep, and when they start on God and the Bible, it REALLY gets funny......
I have actually seen people carry it front or back. As long as it is broken and empty I doubt it matters.
I use to carry an SKB side by side double and when we were not actually hunting, I carried it exactly the way Ted is doing.
Liberals don’t seem to understand any thing they write about, why should guns be any differant?
Winner: “people who want gun control don’t know how to control guns”
OK I dont get it.
How would someone see him as carrying it wrong?
People are jumping all over the guy for the “you’re holding your gun backwards” line, but if you click through to his actual article, he’s not wrong. I was always taught to carry a shotgun with the action open and the muzzle pointing down. That’s what the guy is talking about in his article—he’s criticizing Cruz for not following that safety rule.
He’s making it into a bigger deal than it is (paid by the word?), but he’s not entirely wrong.
The guy is a hunter and actually has a point; http://indefinitelywild.gizmodo.com/hey-ted-cruz-youre-holding-your-gun-backwards-1740325931
Yes he is entirely wrong.
When the gun is broken and empty, it cannot be pointed. The stock and action are pointing in one direction and the barrels in another. It is in one of those rare conditions where it is totally safe.
Short of carrying the stock in one hand and the barrel in the other you really can’t make a gun any safer.
I used to carry my old single shot .410 broken over the shoulder like that or at my side in one hand.
That's true, of course. But, I think the point where the guy is technically correct (and, again, it's a technicality--the gun was safe, and the guy is clearly trying to get attention for his new site) is that every gun--even in the rare conditions where it is totally safe--should be treated as if it is not totally safe. The reasoning behind that is that people are creatures of habit, and so you want people to be in the habit of carrying the gun in the same way (muzzle down), regardless of whether the gun is loaded or broken and empty.
The shoulder carry balances the rifle on your shoulder, controlling the firearm by a hand on the grip. Always keep your finger off the trigger and on the outside of the trigger guard. This is a good carry when walking beside or behind others. It is not a good carry if others are behind you.
When at a shooting range the correct shoulder carry for a break action shotgun would be with the action open, unloaded, barrel pointing down and forward, controlled by both hands.
