I was taught to have it âbrokenâ as shown, but to have the barrel down and in front. The shorter stock sticking out behind you is less of a hazard. Although it took me awhile to get over my aversion of getting finger prints/oil all over the barrels.I'd think that would be uncomfortable holding onto the barrel if it's just been fired.
