As of October 22, over 14,000 people singed the petition. Fire his worthless ass. How hard can it be?

By terminating I hope you mean “summarily ending his employment as a Police Officer.”

As a non-cop, can I put three bullets in the head of any dog I like and then claim that “it charged me” and get off scot-free? Cops don’t even get fired for doing things that would put any of the rest of us in jail, in far too many cases. Any wonder that even so many of us nominally law-abiding people have a fear and distrust of the police?

I dunno, such poor judgement might call for an example being made. “Pour encourager les autres...”

I predict the officer certainly will not be terminated, and most likely, not disciplined. His defense will be that he felt threatened by the dog. Whether or not the dog actually was a threat will be deemed irrelevant.

I bloody well KNOW that I hit the post button only once. Posting time is the same second, even.
What is up with the software lately? Could this be related to Microkludge’s new OS becoming more widespread?

If you have a dog that charges, leash it. Period.

By terminating I hope you mean "summarily ending his employment as a Police Officer." At any law enforcement agency or department local state or federal.
Just wondering what his IQ level is , even Barney would've not shot the dog.

On your own property? I think this cop AND THE IDIOTS WHO TRAINED HIM need to be leashed.

I looked at the video and I looked at the interview... I think this was a set up of the cop. the dog was a rescue anyone who has taken animals and rescues knows that it can be dicey as to there behavior. the dog looked to be charging to me and the thing that got me was the smile on that ladies face when being interviewed. it is the same look my brother would have when he pulled a fast one and was lying. my brother was a sociopath and is in prison for murder. because of him I can spot something hinky a mile a way.
I am a animal lover. I have two dogs that are my emotional replacement for not having kids. I actually feel for the dog because I think he was maneuvered into the behavior that got him or her shot. for me it all goes back to how much the dog owner seemed to enjoy being the center of attention in the interview

If it the cops coming in when the SHTF is not, I’m leashing the dogs. If not, it’s like last time, I’m throwing lead.

I did not say this was planed. I just said that it was a set up. I suspect something was going on in the residence and when the owner answered the door the dog was egged on into the action.

Not saying he should have shot the dog but why did the woman let the dog out?

That’s called a distinction
