I predict the officer certainly will not be terminated, and most likely,not disciplined. His defense will be that he felt threatened by the dog. Whether or not the dog actually was a threat will be deemed irrelevant.

You know, as I read your post, I looked down at my wonderful female Golden Doodle ( our companion for the past 9 years) at my feet here in my office, and it brought a trear to my eye that anyone could be that callous. And I can’t write here what I would do if I ever faced similar circumstances. Most cops are not murderers, but they are all too often abusers of those of us they are sworn to protect and serve, and with the phallanx of laws at their disposal, they very nearly always get away with that abuse. That needs to change immediately, or they WILL feel the wrath of us.
