The Coffee Party, a liberal Facebook group with nearly a million fans, posted this meme of Thomas Paine, one of Americaâs founding fathers.
While Iâm glad to see anyone studying the Founding, it looks like the message was lost on a majority of their left-leaning audience.
Below are 11 of the best comments from their readers, with my responses:
1. âThat is exactly like trying to reason with a republikkklanâ
-Ed. You know the KKK was founded by Democrats, right?
2. âThomas Paine must have anticipated the Tea Party!â
-Ed. Yes, he did â the original Tea Party that youâve obviously never heard of.
3. âThis describes the entire GOP these days.â
-Ed. Because only one Party has exclusive jurisdiction on human stupidity.
4. âThe Tea party is all about this! lolâ
-Ed. Again, see the original Tea Party.
5. âthatâs why arguing with a republican is such a waste of time.â
-Ed. Clearly, you meant âRepublican,â not ârepublican.â Thereâs a big difference. Try again.
6. âand thus we have the teanderthals.â
-Ed. Clever. Iâm beginning to see that the âCoffee Partyâ just really, really, hates tea and that this group has absolutely nothing to do with politics. Just beverages.
7. âso like anyone who thinks trump should be presidentâ
-Ed. Skip.
8. âYou cannot reason with the unreasonable. Thatâs why I forgive terrorists, suicidideists, and especially hardcore Christians.â
-Ed. I canât evenâ¦
9. âTalking to your conservative friends gets the same results! Just give it up!â
-Ed. Yes, just surround yourself with totally like-minded people becauseâ¦diversity?
10. âThank you. Just what I need at this point after all the Republican crying about the media this week and people who continue to support Republican candidates.â
-Ed. Read more about the Founding. You might become a Republican, too.
11. âTo the GOP, reason is treason. Death to all fascists everywhereâ¦â
â Ed. Follow the logic closely here. Republicans are traitors and fascists because they abandon reason. Therefore, the âreasonableâ thing is to murder half the country.
There must be something in the coffee⦠:D
The Coffee Party is chock full ‘o nuts.
My favorite ...
You can’t reason someone out of
something they weren’t reasoned into.
Some people like Plato and John Locke thought moral propositions could really be right or wrong. Some people thought that was only an illusion, and at bottom they are just feelings we have about moral propositions. Which side is right? Can moral propositions really be right or wrong in the sense of being true or false? Or is it really just an irrational preference that evolved within us?
The rational ones are the ones you have to watch out for...they are nuts
The fact this group called themselves the “Coffee Party” shows historical ignorance. It’s not about “tea”. It was never about “tea” as in a beverage of choice. The original “tea party” was not a social event.
Don’t expect many of them to understand the subtleties in your responses- They were born without a clue, and they’ll likely never get a clue In their lifetime
[[-Ed. Because only one Party has exclusive jurisdiction on human stupidity. ]]
Because of their handicap- They likely thought you meant the republicans
[[the ââ¬ÅCoffee Partyââ¬Â just really, really, hates tea and that this group has absolutely nothing to do with politics. Just beverages. ]]
Perfect response!

My attempt to clean up punctuation from article:

too Many Hazelnut lattes, Hazelnuts to me anyway tastes like something I would imagine feces would taste like, but i don’t know what feces tastes like because I am not a dung worshiping dung eating deviant.
Apologies to anyone on this board who actually likes hazelnuts in their coffee.
Thank you.
Where the TEA in Tea Party stands for Taxed Enough Already, the COFFEE in Coffee Party must stand for Coalition Of Federally Funded Elistist Educators.
>>> 8. âYou cannot reason with the unreasonable. Thatâs why I forgive terrorists, suicidideists, and especially hardcore Christians.â <<<
I’ve known sociopaths, psychopaths, neurotics, schizophrenics and dementia sufferers that all made more sense than this.
I’d ask if someone could explain but I suspect the toll on my sanity would be too great.
Funny how liberals like Thomas Paine. Take away his outspoken irreligiosity and he’d just be another dead white guy to them.
Leave it to democrats to mock the author of “Common Sense”!
...as well as an uncontrolable urge for white girls in Kent Clark glasses to wear yoga pants, Uggs, and Vinyasa scarves.
The Coffee Party? Isn’t that a George Soros astrotuffing bunch of useful idiots?
I wonder which liberal kook found this quote. It seems to me that hardcore commie libs would avoid Common Sense like a vampire avoiding a crucifix.
More libtard projection. Libtards are the emotionalists who are filled with hate, anger, and paranoia, and then base their decisions and actions on their emotions. Then, they project their emotionalism onto repubs and conservatives.
Merely pulling out a sentence negates the content of the whole.
