Hollywood Studios Are Self-Censoring Movies To Appease Communist Censors In China, Says US Report
Int'l Business Times ^ | October 30 2015 | Christopher Zara

China’s stringent regulation of American movies isn’t just a matter of cultural differences, but in fact runs afoul of China’s commitments to the World Trade Organization, which in 2007 ordered the country to open its doors to cinematic imports. China failed to comply with the WTO directive for several years, the researchers write, but in 2012 made a deal with the United States to raise the cap on film imports from 20 to 34 films a year -- a move heralded by the Obama administration as a breakthrough.

But more films didn’t lead to WTO compliance. “The ruling called for China to provide equal rights for all individuals and enterprises, both foreign and domestic, importing entertainment products to China on an unlimited basis,” the researchers wrote.

Joe Biden and "Hollywood" both made this stupid "deal" with the Chicoms. A perfect example for Trump to illustrate what stupid losers Barky and his Hollywood cronies are.

Was just reading about Leni Reufenstahl in Hollywood with her “Olympia” movie in 1938: she took out all images of Hitler, LOL.

I’ve also read that some app makers have removed the swastika from historical games, in order to satisfy censors in Germany (really).

Old news. Everyone is all about the $. Corporations everywhere do the same thing. Not just Hollywood. I am surprised anyone is surprised. If there is money in it, they’ll do it. There are no ideologies except the love of money.

Ever watch “Charlie Chan at the Olympic Games?” It was the Berlin Olympics and the cut out all images of Hitler and the Nazi Flag. Charlie got to the Games on the Hindenberg zeppelin (that had crashed and burned weeks before). They even cut images of the German Flag on the tail of the airship.

Hollywood would keep doing this even after China blows up LA with a nuke strike. The producers as “Citizens of the World” not Americans. The time will come that the Produrcers must lean that America is the only place they work with freedoms.

This why the latest version of “Red Dawn” had the Norks instead of Chicoms.

They want global income, which is why most actors publicly cling to socialism.

They’ve been doing it for a while and Kissinger has been instrumental in pushing them to do it.

This has been done for years. China offers Hollywood buckets full of money to film in China, include China in the plots, etc. But the flip side is that you can't criticize the Chinese government, (although you can have characters and situations less flattering than you would think).

Among many examples, Iron Man 3 had scenes written for the Chinese release where Iron Man goes to China and has scenes with one of the most famous Chinese actresses. That part of the plot doesn't exist outside China.

Or Looper, where the main character lives in China for a while. The original story of Looper had no reference to China, but then the Chinese show up with a suitcase full of money and presto, the main character goes and lives in China for several years, and they filmed a significant part of the movie in China with a substantial cost savings.

Is anyone confused now as to why the one scene in the Nolan Batman movies where Batman leaves Gotham, he goes to have a dramatic battle above and inside the skyscrapers of Hong Kong? American Superhero movies weren't doing well in China, until Nolan sent Batman to Hong Kong.

Nothing new there, the remake of Red Dawn was changed to North Korea from China for exactly that reason.

True. I worked on one.

The law in Germany is that it’s FORBIDDEN to show swastikas - You can talk about nazi-ism but they want that element buried.

We didn’t really censor our content at all (a WW2 simulation) as the nazis were still there and the wars and battles were (mostly) historically accurate but we did replace all swastika icons with the iron cross because we WERE going to sell the game in Europe and Germany and didn’t want to make two sets of art for the game. But that was the only change we made. (In fact we had some German translators on staff that were upset that we kept digging up German history to make them look bad.)

Just reading Goebbels-—Leni was Hitler’s lackey hired to do all the major filming projects for Hitler-—they “previewed” and “censored EVERYTHING and EVERY IDEA-—everything she did was to create the idea of a supernatural and invincible Germany. Hitler probably wanted to be out of the Olympia “movie” because of his hatred of Jesse Owens-—he was furious that Germany didn’t dominate over a Black athlete-—and hated the success of the Americans.

BTW, Leni was extremely talented——but she was Hitler’s tool for control of the Minds of the Germans. It was agitprop 100 which they got from Hollywood’s Edward Bernays——Freud’s nephew.

Films can be expensive to produce and you can bet that during the 20th century, a lot of Soviet money was quietly provided to help bankroll Hollywood productions... provided the scripts and cast were “appropriate”.
