It seems to be fashionable among the top-of-the-heap crowd to show how willing you are to commit suicide.
"Oh, well, I'm so open-minded that I will think about committing suicide at the drop of a hat. Or, alternatively, I'll think about you committing suicide while I watch, and take your house, land, and bank account once your gone. Isn't that an open-minded idea? What a free-thinking enlightened person I am!"
