If Democratic state Rep. John Bel Edwards is to become the next governor of Louisiana, he'll do so with the vote of moderate Republicans who, for whatever reason, just can't bring themselves to push the ballot button for Sen. David Vitter, one of their own.

I didn't vote for Vitter for Governor..but will hold my nose because expanding Medicaid is as bad an idea that you will ever hear..I already saw Edwards (No relation to former governor Edwin) running ads saying Vitter couldn't last in West Point one day..

Remind me again why it is that conservatives are absolutely beholden to vote for "moderate" Republican candidates, when the "moderates" never seem to return the favour?

Or will 30% of the Republicans stay home and the Democrats get out the vote because they smell a statehouse pick-up?

That could very well happen..Vitter ran some very childish and hateful ads against his GOP rivals..Angelle and Dardenne won't actually endorse Edwards, but they won't do any heavy lifting for Vitter..now the only carrot that Vitter has is his US Senate seat which would become vacant with Vitter's election..he could go to Angelle and say that he will back him for that seat for his active support..just a guess..

“Or will 30% of the Republicans stay home and the Democrats get out the vote because they smell a statehouse pick-up?”

A very low voter turnout was expected, and it turned out even lower than what the pessimists had estimated. They estimated 45%, and got 38%. This was per a radio news report, anyway.

I’m afraid you have posted the most apt scenero. But we cannot discount t the impact that Out Of State Democratic Money will flood the political swamps of Louisiana and cause large voter turnouts in New Orleans Parish.

Additionally, the Democrats will spend millions to remind voters about Vitter’s long ago relationship with prostitutes, even though Vitter did not have sex with them, but instead wanted someone from outside the politics hall of Washington who he could talk to and maybe help improve her life.

Few senators have a better voting record than does Vitter. He’s proven his bona fides. That’s all I need to know.

Just because Edwards went to West Point is no reason to vote for him. Jimmy Carter went to Annapolis. Would you vote for him?

Agree. Vitter may be a whoremonger, but if he votes correctly I’ll have to support him any day over a Rat.

I wouldn’t vote for a Demonrat for dogcatcher. Best to defeat them early and often before they start moving up the ladder.

“Hi, I’m John Bel Edwards, and yes, the ‘Bel’ is so that you don’t think I’m that other slimy John Edwards.”

Vitter is a solid conservative. He beat 2 “moderate” RINOs for the runoff spot and I for one am glad he did.

His daddy was a crony of Edwin Edwards and at least one news article claims Edwin says they are “distantly related”. Obviously John Bel wants to run away from this association since his people are saying “no relation” more than Babs and Buster Bunny (you won’t get the reference unless you grew up in the 90’s).
