AP-GfK Poll: Trump is hard sell for Hispanics [Only 11 percent view him favorably]

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — Republican front-runner Donald Trump is widely unpopular among the nation's Hispanics, a new AP-GfK poll finds, challenging the billionaire's oft-repeated assertion that he will win the Hispanic vote if he becomes his party's nominee.

The survey finds many of the Republican candidates running for president would probably struggle to win significant support among Hispanics in a general election. Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio are their favorites, but even they are a hard sell, the poll suggests.

Even so, most in the field are unknown to enough Hispanics that they might have a shot at proving themselves.

That's a particular struggle for Trump, who began his campaign for president by calling some immigrants from Mexico rapists and has vowed to deport all of the estimated 11 million people living in the country illegally if he is elected president. Trump is viewed unfavorably by 72 percent of Hispanics, with 6 in 10 having a very unfavorable opinion of him, the AP-GfK poll finds. Only 11 percent view him favorably.

Janet Murguia, president of the National Council of La Raza, the Hispanic civil rights advocacy group, said the findings are no surprise and "consistent from what we've heard from the community."

Trump's provocative comments about the character of immigrants and his plans for mass deportation and construction of a wall all along the Mexican border stirred a backlash from Hispanic groups. He also bailed on an event with Hispanic business leaders.

Nonetheless, Trump says Hispanics love him.

Another racist characterization from our MSM.

I do not believe for a minute that simply being hispanic makes one sympathetic to line jumping lawbreakers.

Every legal hispanic I know is all for Trump. Most are PR’s, not mexicans, but yes, the legal mexicans do like Trump.

Hispanics who won’t vote for Trump weren’t going to vote for a conservative anyway. The real headline of articles like this should be “Only a Pro-Amnesty Republican Can win Hispanic Votes”.

Even recent legals, maybe not, because they want to bring in their extended families as well. So what? BO won an overwhelming share of the Hispanic vote anyway (about 3-1 as I recall). He can more than make that up by appeal to working class whites plus getting about 15% of the black vote.

Jeb and Hillary gave conservatives the finger. Trump can give illegals the finger. Which group has more voters? Seriously?

“Only a Pro-Amnesty Republican Can win Hispanic Votes”.

Even that is doubtful. Didn't McCain manage to win about the same number of them as Romney?

Fact is Mitt Romney got very little support from Hispanics....but he would have won anyway if he had got the conservative vote. Most of whom sat out the election!!

It’s the favorite propaganda from the liberals and Rhinos. Fact is they make up 13% of the population and less than that of registered voters. The 13% includes illegals who are counted in the census!!!

I don’t give a squat what hispanics think about Trump. I also don’t care what blacks think. Or Italians, the Polish or recent German immigrants. All I care about is Americans.

Other polls have shown 25% support of Trump from the Hispanic community.

Chalk up another gamed poll.

I looked at the crowd there in Miami. There were a lot of Hispanic people in it.

When it came to illegal immigration matters, the crowd went wild in support.

Screw these media propaganda efforts.

I’m so sick of the Left and our MSM, the GOPe too.

Club for Growth... the above entities, you all can go straight to hell, don’t pass GO and don’t any $$$$.

Wait. They are interviewing La Raza for an opinion on Trump?

OK.

That’s like going to Iran to get an idea of how the US is viewed in the Middle East.
