Exactly, but more generally: pretending things to be true that aren't true. Some examples: we used to pretend that blacks aren't people, and we had slavery. The Germans (and others) pretended that Jews aren't people, and we had the holocaust. We currently pretend that preborn people aren't people, like in this case. And now we pretend that homosexuality is normal. All of this pretending causes nothing but problems.
I agree with you. As soon as her periods stopped, she should have known
that she was pregnant, and she should have had the IUD removed back then.
Every woman who has an IUD implanted should read up extensively about the
things that can go wrong that harm the mother and the developing fetus.
Plenty can go very, very wrong. The doctor should have been a lot more
careful when she removed the IUD, rather than wrenching it out without
checking for a pregnancy. The quote, “...haven’t had a period for five
months...” from the pregnant woman should have been her first clue.
But this woman was an idiot to be so ignorant about what she did to her
body and to her baby. Some people aren’t meant to procreate, sadly.
And the baby was born alive.

Wrongful death, without a doubt.
No child can survive until well past the age of 2 or 3 without help. Are they fair game?
According to the reasons that liberals use to justify abortion, yes, they’re “fair game”.
Opps. 23 weeks ;)
Include in that group those children who are dying and those children and adults who will always need assistance.

Exactly right, huldah1776.
While I appreciate your agreement, my point was a little broader than that.
The IUD can act as an abortifacient. In other words, it can block an already-created child, a person, from gaining access to the sustenance it needs to survive. Which is no different morally than locking your five year old in a closet with no food and water until they are dead.
She shouldn’t have had the thing put in the first place.
None of which makes this doctor any less culpable, of course.
You’re right again. It’s too bad that the mother did not find out about the damage
IUDs can cause, and that the doctor obviously had not boned up on them either.
