FBI director partly blames police restraint for violent crimes
Chicago Sun Times ^ | 10/26/2015 | Nader Ihmoud

The unrest in Ferguson, Missouri last year and cell phone cameras unearthed demonizing facts about police tactics and calls for police to use more restraint followed. But now, FBI Director James Comey thinks those requests are partly to blame for a surge in violent crimes in some cities.

“Far more people are being killed in America’s cities this year than in many years — and let’s be clear: far more people of color are being killed in America’s cities this year. And it’s not the cops doing the killing,” Comey said in a speech Friday at the University of Chicago.

“In today’s YouTube world, are officers reluctant to get out of their cars and do the work that controls violent crime? Are officers answering 911 calls but avoiding the informal contact that keeps bad guys from standing around, especially with guns?” he asked at his alma mater. “I don’t know whether this explains it entirely, but I do have a strong sense that some part of the explanation is a chill wind blowing through American law enforcement over the last year. And that wind is surely changing behavior.”

This guy gets it.

But he is so very politically incorrect. Look for Obama to move this guy to the head of the White House garbage detail in 3, 2, 1....

No justice, no peace.

Really? Opeaser’s FBI director is being upfront? Unless Opeaser fires him, there may yet be a chance that Hellery is indicted on federal charges. I can dream.

FBI chief tries to deal with the 'Ferguson effect'

Yeppers. If the rioters, looters, thugs and bussed in protesters in Ferguson were dealt with correctly, there would indeed be less violence. Perhaps the events in Baltimore would not have even happened?

How many cops have been busted due to widespread use of video? A lot.

It seems some are attempting to blame the same technology they themselves use. Once again, few videos ever cover an entire crime related events from start to finish, even from major news networks or from LE themselves.

Any evidence is better than no evidence regardless of who’s video is might be.

Fact is with audio/video in every hand, it’s a no-brainer LE is not going to like it. They’ve had their way in court for hundreds of years. Cops word against the defendants and the government courts usually always sided with government law enforcement.

I had to re-read that to make sure I hadn't replaced some verbs, adverbs, or adjectives. That's a serious indictment on Opeaser's "bringing the races together" commentary back when. Wonder how long till he has to spend more time with the family?

About a month or so ago a WaPo reporter snuck into a private meeting of various state, local and Federal officials that covered this.

And reported on what several of them had to say. Including Rahm Emmanuel and NYPD Chief Brattan (sp?).

They were in agreement that cops backing off is behind the rise in violence.

Good article, but I don’t have the link to it right now.

And who is responsible for the “police restraint”?

There was a brave mother in Cleveland who sponsored a rally yesterday. Her son was killed by police after he robbed a store with a (fake) gun, they high-speed pursued him onto a major highway, he crashed and pointed the gun at them. The police shot and killed him.

The mother was terrified what would happen would be blamed on excessive policing. She let the world know that her son had relapsed to using cocaine, and she was heartsick, but it was suicide by police. How brave she was to point to what the real problem is out there! Why can't more parents do that instead of looking for big paychecks from lawsuits?

End of this rant

Crime has spiked in the big Lib-controlled cities. Why do the cops want to get in the middle of all that when they know they will be blamed for the violence?

How many FBI and DoJ agents, attorneys, investigators, and staff swarmed Ferguson, MO after the death of the Gentle Giant?

The 86 page report trying very hard, albeit unsuccessfully, to put the blame on Darren Wilson did not write itself.

FBI director partly blames police restraint for violent crimes

Horse manure.

The Obama FBI and the kneepad director is responsible for the wave of violent crime in America.

They haven't met an FBI, ATF, SS or law enforcement whistleblower they can't attack, demonize, prosecute and destroy in protecting criminal and treasonous activities of their jackboot agents or DemoRat political operatives.

This guy needs to talk to Sheriff Joe of Cochise County, and the Minnesota Sheriff that is often on Fox News. LEO's like that should be working together to reverse the racial division that Opeaser, Holder, and crew have nourished by their mindless rhetoric and real-life actions.

Just think if the FBI and county Sheriffs (have ultimate State authority) were to stand together in a show of solidarity and repeat the same as Director Comey said? What a news conference that would make. Liberal heads would be exploding all over the country. Still, such a message could resonate with those on the cusp.

Are their any conservative controlled large cities?

Btw, watch what happens to the big cities in Europe due to reckless out of control immigration.

Well, since the Director of the FBI has officially stated that the police are refusing to do their jobs then it’s time for the people to arm themselves, isn’t it? Because the liberal argument that the police will handle crime is void.

Blaming it on video is really just a distraction. What is making the cops “gunshy” is the fact that there is a movement waiting to pounce on them and protest, trying to get them fired or worse, before ANY evidence comes out.

If they were just worried about cellphone cameras, only the bad cops would be worried. As it is now, all cops are worried because they have seen this movement try to lynch several innocent cops already.

Any mention of the thug "inciter in chief", the myriad of his would-be 'sons', or professional rabble sousers like al sharpton or jesse jackson?
