Jeb Bush, the man who once pledged famously/infamously that he would run for president "joyfully," had this to say on the campaign trail in South Carolina:
"If this election is about how were going to fight to get nothing done, then I dont want anything, I dont want any part of it. I dont want to be elected president to sit around and see gridlock just become so dominant that people literally are in decline in their lives. That is not my motivation. Ive got a lot of really cool things I could do other than sit around, being miserable, listening to people demonize me and feeling compelled to demonize them. That is a joke. Elect Trump if you want that."
Although the Bush people sought to play down those comments they noted that the strong crowd response he got was the best of the race to date it's hard not see Bush's frustrations coming through in his take-my-ball-and-go-home comments.
It's not fun to be Jeb(!) right now. And, the hard reality of politics and campaigns in particular is that when things are going sort of crappily (not a word, but you get my point), you can't just hang out at your house for a few weeks. (And, yes, that is what I do when things are going bad)
It doesn't really matter why Bush said what he said. All that matters is you can't say stuff like that when you are a) a candidate for president and b) your last name is "Bush." People are already ready to believe that you've had too much handed to you in life, so saying the equivalent of "this is hard and I am not winning, so I don't want to do it anymore" is just not very smart

JUST QUIT ALREADY!!!
From “joyful turtle” to “pi$$y potato”! LOL
Stick around Jeb. You keep the base angry : )
If he thought that the office of POTUS would be like that of a King, then he should pull out and save himself and others real grief. Because that is exactly what he seemed to believe, that there would be no real work involved in being President.
I doubt he has ever read The Federalist Papers.
Agreed! Could one man be any more clueless than Jeb?
Government is the CAUSE of “the decline in people’s lives”, gridlock is the cure.
What an arrogant ass.
LOL!
I look at this party now, and I hardly recognize it, one Florida-based donor said. I never would have thought there would be so much mistrust of the establishment that we would prefer candidates who are angry over those who can actually lead.
Rush just said Bush’s ads are not working..
Well duh!
Why do I have to think of everything?
This donor is free to join the Democrats anytime.
the exclamation point connotes excitement!!!
If he makes it to the next debate and Trump stands on his tippytoes and waves at him down the line, he’ll have to remove his belt and tie for suicide watch.
The tide has ebbed, dare we call it the “Jebb tide”?
“There is a tide in the affairs of men, Which taken at the flood, leads on to fortune. Omitted, all the voyage of their life is bound in shallows and in miseries. On such a full sea are we now afloat. And we must take the current when it serves, or lose our ventures.”
William Shakespeare
Jeb just isn’t all that bright.
1. Quit defending Dubya!!! Next time a question comes up about his "legacy", he just needs to say, "my brother's record is his to defend."
2. Say what he will do if he's elected: specific details, not platitudes.
Righting the ship is one thing, it will take more than that to beat Trump or Carson.
