BEN CARSON SKETCHES PLAN FOR DEALING WITH ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS (Citizenship for guest workers)
Powerline ^ | 9/13/15 | PAUL MIRENGOFF

Posted on 10/24/2015 8:41:40 AM PDT by jimbo123

During an appearance of Face the Nation, Dr. Ben Carson took a stab today at outlining how he would deal with the issue of illegal immigration. After criticizing Donald Trump’s concept of deporting every illegal immigrant (and then readmitting “the good ones”), Carson said this:

[L]et’s say we get [the borders] sealed, because certainly in a Carson administration that would be done within the first year. You also turn off the spigot that dispenses the goodies, so that people don’t have any incentive to come here.

Then those who are here, we have to recognize that we can’t just round them up, but we can give them an opportunity to register. I would give them a six-month period.

If they register, and if they have a pristine record, they haven’t been causing problems, I would give them an opportunity to become guest workers — not citizens, not voting people, not people who get goodies. I think that would be a fair way to do it.

In terms of them becoming citizens later on down the road if they’ve done things the right way, we the American people will decide what the criteria for that ought to be.

Most of the commentary I’ve seen about Carson’s statement has focused on the guest worker idea. I’ll get to it in a moment.

My biggest concern, though, is with Carson’s proposal eventually to establish criteria for illegal immigrants becoming “citizens. . .down the road if they’ve done things the right way.” By definition, those who are here illegally have not “done things the right way.” They should be barred from becoming U.S. citizens.

We need to reduce legal immigration. We could stop illegal immigration tomorrow and the Dems would still become the permanent majority party. Amnesty just hastens the process a little. Since 1990 we have taken in 35 million LEGAL PERMANENT IMMIGRANTS. 87% of them are minorities as classified by the USG. Immigrants and minorities vote more than two to one Dem. Demography is destiny.

Professor Borjas of Harvard has a piece out that explains that illegal immigration is a transfer of the POOR to the rich.

While I’m not speaking for him, it bears mentioning: when you are poor, all you have to trade is your labor — your hands-on work. But when you are wealthy, you are trading stocks, real estate, bonds etc.

So when the only thing you have to trade is being discounted by TPTB,because they have made a “deal” with politicians, you are deliberately being sentenced to poverty.

By your own leaders, btw.

We don’t have to round them up. The pro-amnesty crowd offers the false choice between a blanket amnesty or mass deportation. There are other alternatives including attrtion thru enforcement.

E-verify is now voluntary. We should make it mandatory.

It seems obvious to me that candidates who are soft on “immigration” live in a different world than we do. When we go shopping at the mall or the grocery store, when we go out to any restaurant or fast food place, in our area we are no longer the majority. In our area most of the workers and the other customers are no longer white people.

In our area we have become a minority and by many of those around us a despised minority. They speak loudly and rudely about their interpretation of our nation’s history. Most are not grateful for the sacrifices that our forefathers made. A majority do not seem to appreciate our constitution or the traditions that have made this country great.

There must be many who live in areas where the invasion isn’t as obvious because other than Trump even the Republican candidates don’t seem to recognize or acknowledge that this has become a looming threat to our country’s future. Is it not a problem in their world? Or are they all just looking at the obvious and not seeing it?

To us every other issue seems less important than this one. Given that recent immigrants vote Democrat by a 4 to 1 majority one can see that for the Democrats this is a transparent power play. Republicans who are afraid to offend the 25% who are hard workers and who do appreciate our country pander to the rest and allow this craziness to continue. Without strong leadership that will put a stop to these destructive policies it is not hard to see the likely outcome. It might already be too late but we need to deport everyone who is here illegally and end the flood that are currently being allowed to come to this country legally as well. Enough is enough. We cannot afford what is now happening if we want our children and grandchildren to live happy, and secure lives.

You also turn off the spigot that dispenses the goodies, so that people don’t have any incentive to come here.
.......................................

If you truly turn off said spigot, the problem will solve itself (they will all leave) since virtually all illegals are receiving ‘goodies’ of one kind or another.

...and then you would also get rid of another ‘goodie’ program: All of the government workers who earn a living administering all of these insane programs to those who don't deserve them.

Cite me an enumerated power under Article I Section 8 that permits the government control over employment.

have to get word out to his supporters about this.

polls say big support among women and evengelicals.

Since i live on Staten Island and dont know one Evengalecal, though I bet their really nice and good people, any of you who do, try and change their minds.’

i know Trump doesn’t come off as too religious with the triple marriages and saying he doesn’t ask God for forgiveness, etc.

But he will protect their beliefs and values and has stated he is proud of his religion and is a good man for the job.

You are correct. (And thanks for the data.)

Of course, the real issue is not Democrats or Republicans. The effect on the parties is merely a symptom of something far, far deeper.

People create their culture; not the other way around. Of course, all Socialist movements believe that changing his social environment changes the individual--that is the rationalization for actually believing their pursuit of cloud-borne social wish lists can actually succeed in defeating the realities of human existence. But their engineering always fails--always produces "unintended consequences"; because people create their culture--it reflects those who create it, not the cloud derived wishes of the Leftist theorists.

Wishes will never be horses; and no pig has ever sprouted wings.

“There are other alternatives including attrtion thru enforcement.”

Yeah, but my point was, who cares? Or, more exactly, when politicians say “we can’t round them all up”, what the hell are they talking about?

We could have 2/3 of them gone in a month, with proper organization.

Why not? Mastercard, VISA, Discover, AMEX, Fed-Ex, EBT cards, free gummint stuff, Iphones, Cable TV, obamaphones, etc... just tracking these things would identify the location to round up 90% of the illegals, and that is a before you send a single agent onto the street.

It is not the method, it is the WILL TO DO IT.

Trump will build the wall and round'em up because he wants to do it and that is what counts.

Sorry, Dr. Ben, not on this watch. Don’t grasp this concept or you might not find yourself a winner. When a home invader violates the law to invade mine....he has a likely hood to become a statistic NOT a citizen.

Carson and Rubio are now the great hope for the GOPe. Watch Carson’s donor contributions skyrocket and his message adjust itself toward GOPe objectives.

“Section 8 that permits the government control over employment. “

Making an uniform rule of naturalization implies the power to regulate the movement and activities of aliens present here illegally.

I don't have to cite you anything. It is illegal for an illegal alien to work in this country and it is illegal for an employer to hire them. It is why we have the Employment Eligibility Verification Form I-9. The 1986 Immigration Act requires it. E-verify makes the process easier and stops the rampant fraud attached to the I-9 process.

AZ enacted mandatory E-verify and SCOTUS ruled it constitutional.
