In 2013, Michael Bloombergs pro-gun control PAC injected $1.1 million into the Virginia gubernatorial race to help out Democratic candidate Terry McAuliffe. It succeeded. McAuliffe won, and now Bloomberg is trying to make sure the state legislatures composition is slightly more favorable for the next session by dumping another $1.5 million in the Old Dominions respective state senate races (via WaPo):
Former New York City mayor Michael Bloombergs gun-control group will bankroll a $1.5 million advertising campaign for a Northern Virginia state Senate candidate, in its second big ad buy in the commonwealth in as many days.
Less than two weeks before Election Day, Everytown for Gun Safety announced Thursday that it would spend $1.5 million in TV and online ads for Democrat Jeremy McPike. He is running against Manassas Mayor Harry J. Hal Parrish II (R) to succeed retiring Sen. Charles J. Colgan (D-Prince William).

Dear Mr. Rktman:
Thank you for contacting me. I appreciate hearing from you about this issue.
I took note of your opposition to proposed gun safety laws. As a gun owner, I welcomed the Supreme Court's decision in District of Columbia v. Heller, which made clear that each and every law-abiding citizen has an individual constitutional right to keep and bear arms. Over the years it has been my firm conviction that we must work to protect this right by enforcing laws that keep guns away from terrorists and criminals, without compromising the rights of responsible gun owners.
Background checks are the first line of defense in keeping guns out of the hands of criminals and terrorists. The American people overwhelmingly support universal background checks to keep guns out of the hands of criminals and people with severe mental illnesses. In the last Congress, the Manchin-Toomey amendment (S.Amdt.715 to S.649) would have expanded background checks. S.Amdt.715 was proposed by Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Pat Toomey (R-PA) on April 11, 2013 as an amendment to the Safe Communities, Safe Schools Act of 2013. Contrary to what was maliciously reported by opponents of sensible gun legislation, the Manchin-Toomey amendment did not create a national registry of guns or gun owners. In fact, a gun registry was specifically outlawed in the legislation and carried a 15-year felony sentence for any government official found storing gun records. On April 17, 2013, this legislation failed to gain the votes necessary to overcome a filibuster.
Please be assured that I have noted your views regarding gun legislation. I will continue to use my leadership position in the Senate to help protect our school children, neighbors, and families from tragic gun violence. At the same time, I will also continue to defend the Second Amendment and protect the interests of law-abiding gun owners throughout Nevada. Like many Nevadans, I do not believe these two concepts to be mutually exclusive, and I will keep working to that end.
Again, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with me. I look forward to hearing from you in the near future.
My best wishes to you.
Sincerely, HARRY REID United States Senator
He says he's looking forward to hearing from me again so I know I can trust him to do the right thing. Right? LOL! Uh, no.
How in the world does Bloomberg and the left continue to get away with trying to concentrate guns in hands of police and government , while simultaneously created such hatred for law enforcement among minority voters?!?
Minority communities should be the biggest proponents on RKBA and CCW.
‘Specially since apparently it’s the cops that are killing all those young black youts. I even think there’s a bounty on them so why let the cops have guns. Three day anti cop protest in NYC. Which is kinda weird since an NYPD officer was shot and killed the other day.
The message, it’s all about getting your message out and unfortunately, $ do that. It would be good if Parrish had time to call attention to their votes being manipulated by out-of-town puppet masters. The people should know.
Also apparently, there is NO WAY to get these communities to take any responsibility for themselves, even for their own self defense from criminals in their midst (or their perception that the cops are out to get them). It’s Completely illogical that they would allow themselves to be made defenseless AND advocate the same for their appointed protectors in LE. Their reliance on govt for everything is infantile.
I’m praying for a MAJOR backlash. Sturdevant just came out with an ad that DOES mention Bloomberg .... usually, knowing Bloomie & his gun grabbers are meddling gets people’s dander up. Mr Parker is a jerkwad liberal loony toon of the first order - he was a politician before his daughter was shot & he’s using that experience & his daughter’s death (RIP Alison & Adam) to inflict his liberalism on everyone else.... this goes well beyond an exercise in grief. Of course, Terry McAwful (governor of Va., carpetbagger & Clinton crony) is egging him on, the ‘Rat.
It would be instructive to ask that maggot Reid to show the Constitutional authority for the feral government to require that a citizen get gubermint permission to sell ones personal property to another citizen in a intrastate sale.
Notice in his letter to me he says that the first line of defense against criminals and “TERRORISTS” getting guns is intergalactic background checks. Really hairy. He’s even more delusional than we thought. Surprised he didn’t use the gun show loophole verbiage as well. But he does own guns and supports the 2nd. Right hairy. For you and other elites maybe. Us peons, you’re lyin’.
Looking pretty grim .... I agree.
