Hard on the heels of yesterdays Quinnipiac poll comes a survey from the Des Moines Register that confirms Ben Carson is now the leading Republican candidate in Iowa, with Donald Trump slipping into second place, and Senator Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) 96% nudging ahead of Senator Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 80% for third.
The Des Moines Registers results are very similar to Quinnipiac: Carson 28, Trump 19, Cruz 10, Rubio 9. Thats a 10 point jump for Carson since the last poll in August, and a four-point slide for Trump.
The second tier is a tie for fifth place, with five points apiece, between Jeb Bush and Senator Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) 93% . Carly Fiorina is next with 4 percent, then Mike Huckabee with 3. No one else reached 3 percent in the poll.

When Carson stays in the lead for 3 months like Donald Trump, and in other polls besides just Iowa, then I’ll take him more seriously.
It’s all based on evangelical Christian support when you read the internals.
The EV Christians need to realize that Cruz is their better choice. He has been through the fire of ACTUAL opposition. They word is they like Carson because he’s ‘nice’. I agree. He is.
Cruz, on the other hand, comes across as determined and uncompromising. The EV’s need to ask themselves what Carson will act like when he’s actually gone through the fire. If he doesn’t look determined and uncompromising, then he has folded.
Besides, both Cruz and Carson have to eventually go to some big money people to fund their campaign.
Now, we know why the Iowa Corn Whores faux conservatives for ethanol favor Carson.
Carson favors burning food as an expensive and worthless gasoline additive, which needs our tax $s to subsidized this bs.

This will be interesting. How will Ben hold up to the attacks that come on a frontrunner that Trump has endured for four months now? Because they will come. The Bush/Rubio team will not tolerate Gentle Ben leading.
Mr. niteowl77
Dr. Carson is a nice man, and there is alot to like about him.
That said, there is no reason to believe he has the skill set necessary to reform a BIG operation, the biggest in the world, btw....effectively.
Any one who believes he can is nuts, IMHO.
Same or new
What a bunch of bums put forth by the political parties when a know nothing doctor leads the pack and a casino builder is the follow-up.
The choice is clear, Carson who is a bit wobbly on the Second Amendment, or Trump who is wholeheartedly behind it.
Carson is a nice guy, no question there. But as the saying goes, “does he have the fire in his belly?”
Compared to Trump, Carson has a nice, neat little campfire going, it keeps him and his supporters warm, and that too is a nice thing.
But Trump?
An INFERNO of pro-American, in-your-face patriotism!
I’ll got with the inferno, thanks very much.

When one gets out of the gasahol Iowa whore state, dependent on our tax $’s for a worthless and dangerous gasoline additive, Cornahol, the polls look different.
Trump Change: More GOP Voters Than Ever Say Hes The Man (74% LV Repubs Say Trump Wins GOP)

Bang! More Republicans than ever think Donald Trump will be their partys presidential nominee next year.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 74% of Likely Republican Voters believe Trump is likely to end up as the GOP nominee, with 34% who say it is Very Likely. The overall finding is a 16-point jump from a week ago and up eight points from Trumps previous high among Republicans of 66% in early September. This is also the highest number to date who see a Trump nomination as Very Likely.
Just 23% of GOP voters say The Donald is unlikely to capture the Republican nomination, but that includes only six percent (6%) who consider it Not At All Likely. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
When Trump first announced his candidacy in mid-June, just 27% of Republicans felt his nomination was likely.
Among all likely voters, 57% say Trump is likely to be the Republican presidential nominee, with 22% who view it as Very Likely. Both these findings are also record highs since Rasmussen Reports began the weekly Trump Change survey in mid-August. Thirty-nine percent (39%) still say Trump is not likely to win the nomination, with 16% who say it is Not At All Likely.

I have Iowa friends who say they seem to get polled every election season, and who delight in screwing with the pollsters. They have an overly-developed sense of Iowa’s importance in the primary process and think that by lying to pollsters about who they will absolutely vote for they are able to effect public opinion.
Maybe they’re an exception and maybe these polls are accurate but Iowa is just one state and not much of a bellwether of anything.
The Bush/Rubio team will not tolerate Gentle Ben leading.
*************
I’m not sure they will. Carson doesn’t have any of their votes. They bring him down, they just help Trump/Cruz.
Huck (2%), Rick (1%) Jindal (2%)— they are all all nothing in Iowa-— they may go after him.
False poll.
Now he is groveling back down into that Ghetto by embracing Sharpton? Not a nice man, not a nice thing to do to all his mothers hard work. I don't think even she would like him playing the RACE CARD.
on another thread, this:
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 74% of Likely Republican Voters believe Trump is likely to end up as the GOP nominee, with 34% who say it is Very likely.
Because the Media says Carson is leading is only wishful thinking, designed to discourage all of us.
Same push poll from the Des Moines Register that was posted twice earlier.
Attended a huge Evangelical church in Fullerton, Mega congregation and a well heeled population in the area...
The pastor Chuck Swindoll was offered an opportunity and was leaving..
His last sermon was a doozy, I was smiling but many were not...
The Blue Hairs and self righteous natured ones were blown out of the water from the pulpit. Laid their hair back and they actually seemed to lean back in the blast...
Closed minded, not as accepting of others and acting like members of an exclusive club and not interfacing outside that invisible yet noticeable circle...
They vote Carson saying Trump is a city slicker...
Family there, Mahaska county, there is one nearby called DeWitt, my Grandmothers Maiden name ...
Yep, I know a plow wrestler when I meet em..
Good Folks, just stubborn is all...
Iowa is an imaginary media and political junkie obsession. The presidential preference straw poll isn’t even the main purpose for the caucuses. Iowa will pick national convention delegates on May 31st. Why does Iowa get blamed for MSM dementia?
If Vermont were able to insinuate itself into the position of being the first in the nation primary, we’d likely have the government falling all over itself to provide maple syrup subsidies. I wouldn’t even be surprised if the Feds mandated 10% fermented maple syrup in gasoline.
