It’s not being turned over to immigrants. Make no mistake, it is to overload the infrastructure to cause as much damage as possible, resulting in collapse and ultimately force government intervention.
All of this is dependent on how patient the left is. Slowly but surely the Government police force is being constructed. The EPA, the Interior and other government agencies are warehousing firearms and bullets to be used against the citizenry when the time comes. Mobilization plans are being tested, temporary jails evaluated.
Want to know why the government is scared of Trump? If he is elected, this all gets torn down. If Cruz is elected, this all gets torn down. If Hillary is elected and this didn’t happen yet, it won’t be long after her coronation when it does happen.

That firearms possession is an integral part of the social contract holding the country together is simply not within that field of focus. That a clever, legalistic way around the clear protection afforded by the Second Amendment is likely to result in a violent reaction isn't either. Some of this is natural enough: clever, legalistic ways around the First and the Fourth and the Fifth Amendments have been in place for some time and continue to build. That this one is more likely to result in violence than any of the others is simply not in that field of focus either. Winkler is surprised at the heat; so, I suspect, will be a lot of other liberals if they manage to lever their prohibitions into being. At that point they'll simply take it as a validation of their article of faith that firearms owners are violent people; on the contrary, the violence will have been theirs.

We’ll have to agree to disagree on that point, but only on sequence and timing. While I think your conclusion about the government police force and the overloading of our social welfare system is entirely valid, I have to conclude that there’s a very real underlying reason behind bringing so many immigrants into the country and allowing so many others (~40% of illegal immigrants are visa overstays) to stay. While many are already voting, at some point in the near future, they will be allowed to vote. As the politicians they and their progressive allies elect continue to use extra-legal means to whittle away at real constitutional rights (as opposed to those imagined or interpreted by SCOTUS), American citizens will have finally had it. The government will then have the justification (”...the president and members of Congress, having been democratically elected by the people...”) to make use of all those weapons and ammo they’ve procured over the past several years.
Truth be told, I fervently hope we’re both wrong, but I doubt it.
