A defiant Rand Paul is brushing off weak fundraising and weaker poll numbers as would-be donors and home state Republicans push him to abandon an uphill presidential bid to focus on his Senate re-election. While showing some frustration, the first-term Kentucky senator this week claimed his superior political organization would prove wrong those doubting his chances in the White House contest. At the same time, he released fundraising numbers that place him squarely in the bottom tier of the GOP's 2016 class over the last three months, a painful symbol of stalled momentum for the libertarian favorite who was considered a major presidential contender earlier in the year.
Despite the early hype, Paul has failed to tap into the national anti-establishment sentiment that fueled his father's national ambitions just four years ago. "Rand's missed his opportunity," said Gary Heavin, a Texas billionaire who accompanied Paul on a three-day humanitarian mission to Haiti over the summer.
"I wanted to support him because he's the real deal, but his strategy is just awful," continued Heavin, the founder of the health club franchise Curves. "He is going to be a very, very effective senator." Specifically, Heavin said Paul went after rival Donald Trump so aggressively that he alienated anti-establishment voters who might have supported him.

That headline is a nice way of the GOPe telling Rand Paul to exit the race. He seems like a nice man, but him and other low polling candidates need to move on.
I liked him before he became the best friend of Harry’s *itch.
Now I don’t care if he gets re-elected to his Senate seat.
I hope he stays in and damages the GOP every chance he gets. And spends as much liberal donor money as he can get to do it.
You know, he and the rest of the few-% bottom feeders just reinforce the perception of “the stupid party”. Childish.
Like father, like son! Both he and Rubio should attend to their Senate seats. Cruz has another 2 years, and unfortunately Linda has four.
I think the GOP has adopted the ‘Snowflake Syndrome’ aspect of the DNC along with their normal liberalism.
You know, all kidding aside, thats how I increasingly see it and I think the evidence is there. They all think they are special. They all deserve their positions. And if we don’t recognize their talents, then it’s us that has the issue.
Really, how are they the least bit different than a hipster?

Face the facts, Rand. You just haven’t caught fire with the electorate. Your presidential campaign is going nowhere because you simply aren’t connecting with enough voters to be competitive.
Same can be said for all the others who are polling at 5% and under. It’s actually selfish, and even destructive to our process of self governance, for the lower tier to stay in at this point.
Poor Rand. The sad thing is, he only really ran for that Senate seat in the first place as a platform to run for President. He was so sure this would be a libertarian leaning Republican electorate and that predictions pretty much bombed. He doesn’t even really have the support of his kooky fathers paulbot followers.
He's hardly damaging the GOPe. He's doing their dirty work by drawing support away from Cruz, Carson, and Trump.
Agree. Neither of them stand a chance in hell of winning the White House. The best either of them can do, is to get the Dem elected.
I dunno about that Windy. He is providing a bad example of what not to be and Trump/Cruz seem to be gaining from every leftist GOP attack Paul and his fellows are making.

Ultimately it won’t matter a lot. The die is cast with the GOP. They chose poorly and will soon merge with the Dems anyway.
