I didn’t address the “armed” part of your post. We are talking Texas back in those days, plus Ruby’s association with police. Because they knew him and his club, they wouldn’t check him for a gun, however, back in those days, in Texas, before concealed carry law, no one was checked for a gun anywhere. Courthouses didn’t check for guns for people going in a courthouse, no place checked for guns.
Thank you and that was the original point!! It was an era of nuclear weapons, cold war with the Soviet Union, tense relations with Cuba, while our guys were attempting to assassinate the leaders of other countries, etc.
There was no excuse for anything that occurred in that historic Dallas Texas epic F*** up.

Those were extremely dangerous times where we came closer to all out nuclear war than any time in our history. In fact Soviet crewmen were nearly brawling on Soviet subs equipped with nuclear missiles off Cuba, over weather to launch on Florida or the east coast, as depth charges were going off in the waters around them.
I was speaking of guns in Texas in those days, not nuclear war fear.

I spoke about facts as I knew them then and now. I don’t need to excuse anything that happened. You seem to have an agenda about those days and that means nothing to me - believe what you want.
Well, you need to pay closer attention to history instead of offering up excuses like, “I was speaking of guns in Texas in those days, not nuclear war fear.”
That’s ridicules based on what was happening in the U.S. at the time and in regards to this collosal historic national security failure.
I can almost sympathize with SS agents on Hillary’s detail needing a drink or 12 to deal with her BS day and night. :-)
