Why The Fight Between Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio Is Getting Ugly

The Bush-Rubio game of survival: It's been bubbling behind the scenes for weeks, and yesterday the fight between Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio broke out into the open. It's getting very prickly between the two Floridians, and here's the big reason why: Both have reason to be disappointed in their fundraising this past quarter, and they both need a boost fast. Bush's $13.4 million haul didn't impress a lot of observers, but he can claim that his total beat out Rubio's $5.7 million

Team Rubio was quick to boast that their $11 million cash on hand number is more than Bush's $10.3 million - complete with a press release implicitly dinging Bush for being careless with donors' money. And then came a counterargument from Rubio foes, who pointed out that a chunk of the Florida senator's cash is earmarked for the general election, making his actual primary race cash-in-the-bank figure less than Bush's. And that's not to mention Bush's suggestion that he'd legislate against the "dark money" Rubio's largely relying upon.

You've even got Jeb Bush Jr. stating publicly yesterday that Rubio should "drop out or do something" because he's not doing the job he's been paid to do. Oof. It's getting ugly.

They are both Cheap Labor Express candidates. We have had enough multinational politicians. It’s time for another American President.

But let them stay in and fight it out until late into the primaries. Let’s turn the tables and have a “split-the-RINO-Amnesty-vote” year.

a real presidential candidate would say America is much worse today because Obama is still in the white house.

Team Rubio was quick to boast that their $11 million cash on hand number is more than Bush's $10.3 million

If that is all the money Bush has on hand after everything he raised from the start of this campaign, it is yet another testament to how pathetic his campaign has been and why he needs to hang it up - it's over. The fact that Rubio has even a penny more on hand, given the fraction he has raised overall compared to Bush, is truly an embarrassing state of affairs for the Bush campaign.

ROFLOL, they are both cut from the same cloth as far as I’m concerned. Pro-Amnesty taking American jobs. Wish both would drop out today.

If I had to vote tomorrow, I’d vote Trump, before I’d vote for either of these Pro-Amnesty idiots. And Cruz so far has my vote, as I can look up his record, where Trump has a record of changing parties 5 times and is a big DemonRAT contributor.

Did they just get in his wallet to big?

Isn’t Florida’s primary winner-take-all?

I think the RNC set it up that way, assuming that Yeb would be the winner.

Now that Trump is leading the polls in Florida, the GOPe is setting their hair on fire.

My enemy is my friend when a rival is in trouble. Despite the GOPe credentials, Rubio is much more palatable than Bush, not saying’ I would vote for either in the general, but Bush represents the worst of progressive Republican-lite.
