Yup. I'm becoming increasingly aware that many people simply don't get the point of war: destroy "them", if not "their" will. There's this notion that with enough words of one sort or another, everyone will consent to us: enough laws passed, enough negotiation engaged in, enough persuasive emotional arguments, enough words on paper, enough threats, enough lines in the sand, enough arrests, ... eventually "they" will say "OK" and comply with the superior "us". Soldiering is viewed as a career choice to which nobody should be denied, instead of the physical elite best capable of vying against existential threats to our "tribe's" existence - and that the slightest weakness will be probed for and abused to wreak whatever havoc & destruction possible upon us.
