Justice Dept. is creating a position to better combat domestic terrorism

The Justice Department is seeking to draw more attention and resources to what it sees as a growing threat posed by domestic extremists, with officials noting that more Americans have been killed in such attacks than by international terrorists since Sept. 11, 2001.

It is creating a new position to coordinate investigations, identify trends and analyze legal gaps to be able to better combat the domestic threat while keeping the pedal on international terrorism probes.

“As someone whose job it is to prevent terrorism, I take them equally seriously,” Assistant Attorney General John P. Carlin said in an interview Thursday. “It’s developing the capacity to do those both at once.”

Attacks by white supremacists and people motivated by racial and religious hatred and anti-government views have killed 48 people, while attacks by individuals linked to or inspired by foreign terrorist groups have claimed 26 lives, according to the think tank New America. . .

How much you want to bet that Islamic hatred of Christians was included in the first group? Of course, "white supremacists" get the lead.

Wake up 'bitter clingers', you're in the cross hairs.

I long for the day this government isn’t controlled by a President and DOJ AG who is a white hating black person.

White-haired old ladies are obviously the first and most important target.

This a diversionary tactic, to send the enforcement teams off against so many different “terrorists” that the real and definitely dangerous terrorists can penetrate further and do so much more damage than they otherwise would.

This strategy is somewhat like using the strongest of antibiotics to knock out a virus infection. A much more deadly superbug microbe is bred up that cannot be countered with any antibiotic.

First off, attacks are from LEFT wing; NOT right wing. Secondly, you can stop ALL domestic terror attacks by CLOSING THE F’N BORDERS. Finally, DEPORT THE CRIMINALS ALREADY HERE.

No thanks necessary; no need to hire somebody’s nephew. I’l be by October 16 to pick up my consultant check. Have a nice day.

There are hundreds classified as road rage, work place violence, and domestic violence.

Now I wonder how the Black Lives Matter are classified? These random shootings of police?

Attacks by white supremacists and people motivated by racial and religious hatred and anti-government views have killed 48 people,

Several things....calling these crimes, "domestic terrorism," changes things legally.

Note the way they are defining these views should frighten anyone who thinks we still have civil rights, anti-government views? Freedom of Speech may now just put you on the 'domestic terror watch list' and if 'arrested' keep you detained until they feel like releasing you under the NDAA. Lastly, I'd really like to see what 48 murders were truly connected to terrorism, mental illness, etc.

Actually lets not get into some of the ‘hairs.’

We are missing the larger point, the Justice Department is redefining law, intent of laws, and our very civil rights.

Does changing the classification of an event from ‘criminal behavior’ to ‘terrorism’ take away a citizens Rights?

The age of thought crime is here:
motivated by racial and religious hatred and anti-government views

to have such views now makes one a potential terrorist according to the Justice Department.

I, for one, find it decidedly convenient that to promote the use of Domestic terrorism a State needs only to permit the lawful or unlawful entry of perpetrators and use whatever suits the narrative to empower the police state against its citizens, further eroding this Country’s Constitution and it’s security.

Oh, yeah...right. /s

I took an oath; I have never forgotten the gravity of “domestic enemy” and believe I am witness to its true identity(s).

Domestic Terrorist:

Any person that can be classified as a “Public Employee” that has been determined to have made Deliberate False statements that leads to any injury or loss of any kind to the general citizenry.

Quite right. Voting serves more to condone high criminality in DC than to select reps to make laws in the best interests of the nation.

GA and my state of FL are two of the few states to get aboard the Convention of States Movement. It provides a peaceful way out of our mess. The nation should take advantage of it.
