Navy forced to hire foreign troops to fill the ranks as former top brass warn 4,000-sailor shortage puts it in a 'perilous situation'

The Royal Navy is in a ‘perilous situation’ and needs 4,000 extra sailors to man its new aircraft carriers and nuclear submarine fleet, it was revealed yesterday.

Former military top brass warned how the Navy, Army and RAF had been hit with massive manpower shortages after devastating cuts to Britain’s Armed Forces. Defence chiefs are now asking countries across the world to loan Britain troops in a desperate bid to make up the numbers, it was said.

The embarrassing scramble to re-recruit servicemen to man the UK’s warplanes and new aircraft carriers comes after the Government heavily slashed the forces during its last defence review in 2010.

A shortage in personnel has resulted in both the RAF and Royal Navy looking to recruit foreign fighters in order to fill a gap in manpower.

Retired Vice Admiral Sir Jeremy Blackham warned: ‘From a naval point of view, there is a serious problem.

It’s said to be when I last spoke to the Fleet Commander, of the order of 3,500 to 4,000 people.’ He said without achieving those numbers ‘it would be impossible to send ships to sea fully manned’.

He added: ‘There is a serious manpower problem which will negate some of the investment we are making in equipment unless it is addressed. There is a deal on the table but it falls very, very far short.

Hmm. How many Yabos are on the dole in the UK? Seems to be more of a motivation problem than a manpower problem.

Maybe if they kick the faggots out the Navy might look like a respectable proposition.

I think it may be the same here. What reasonable person would enlist with the suicidal rules of engagement where it’s almost impossible to fire your weapon against an enemy unless you are shot prior??

Piss poor planning on the part of what was once the greatest navy in the world.

They should speed the process up and get ISIS to supply their personnel needs.

“Seaman Mohammed, you’re in charge of this red button. But, don’t press it unless the Captain orders you to, as it controls the nuclear missile launch. “

I’m too old, out of shape, have plenty of little things wrong with me so I wouldn’t be wanted anyway.

Did the Royal Navy run out of sodomy or rum?

This is so silly I don’t know where to start.

They have a shortage because they created it and now they want foreign troops manning their best vessels? Just how are they going to pay for a non-Brit when they cannot afford real sailors?

What about security clearances?

Why not just call up their reserves to fill the slots?

So the Red Chinese, the Iranians and North Koreans lend them what they need. Just what could go wrong?

Once the best navy in the world, they literally ruled the seas. They had a huge empire that resulted in English being a very common second language for most countries. Single handed, they held off Hitler until help arrived. Yes, liberalism sure is a good thing.

Sadly, we aren’t that far behind them.

They didn’t hold off Hitler alone. Canada was training 4000 pilots a month and send hardware and pilots to fight.

There were also a handful of Americans.

The Canadian effort was significant though. However, without the invention of the radar it would of been a lost cause.

I have also heard reports that perhaps thousands of cases of sexual abuse have occurred since homosexuals were allowed to joined the armed forces.

Germany also having to shift resources to the Russian front helped them as well.

Maybe the Germans can send troops to England. they did in 1776. Is Count Von Hesse still around?
