Ukrainian prosecutors have raided the homes of top leaders of the nationalist Svoboda party as part of an investigation into the massacre of anti-government protestors on the Maidan square in Kyiv on February 20, 2014.

The shooting of up to 50 protestors by police triggered the flight from Kyiv of pro-Russian former president Viktor Yanukovych on February 22, and the ascent to power of a pro-Western administration

Didn't there used to be a Met baseball player named Ron Svoboda? I seem to remember that name with the "Miracle Mets."

Gorrrg, am I old or what?

If investigators determine the firearms used were crafted of metal, this event will be known as the Iron Maidan shooting.

My guess is that this is a move by the coup government to back of Svoboda who never really went away, and kept up the Nazi street thug routine.
I read stories in recent months how they were threatening to run out the government they installed also now. There was also a story where Svoboda types shot it out with the police in the Lviv.

So the government knew all along that it was Svoboda that started the shooting, and its an easy way to take them down for becoming a menace.

Swoboda with a "w".

He lived in my town when I was a kid. The town gave him a parade after they won the series in '69. For some reason nobody showed up at the parade.

The moves against Svoboda further illustrate that the alliance between Ukrainian nationalists and liberals that drove the opposition protests on Maidan has broken down.

Failure is the Ukraine's middle name.

the staged shootings being orchestrated by the WH need to be investigated. My gut feeling is that this has been occurring for several years but that the people involved in the shootings are removed from the living after they finish their assignments so they can’t testifty later.

Complete nonsense. The government killed 26 peaceful protesters days before any alleged shootings by the far right on February 20.
