People are expecting politicians to be some self contained rock of fixed posture. Real life is aggravatingly dynamic, and what (of earthly affairs) mattered most yesterday may not matter most today and vice versa.
If Carson were the only republican running I’d be happy to vote for him.
But in this case there are others who’ve been more consistent than he to choose from.
