A Kurdish militia in northern Syria has joined forces with Arab rebels, and their new alliance has been promised fresh weapon supplies by the United States for an assault on Islamic State forces in Raqqa, a spokesman said on Monday.
The alliance calling itself the Democratic Forces of Syria includes the Kurdish YPG militia and Syrian Arab groups, some of which fought alongside it in a campaign that drove Islamic State from wide areas of northern Syria earlier this year.
The Arab groups in the new alliance are operating under the name "The Syrian Arab Coalition" - a grouping which U.S. officials have said would receive support under a new U.S. strategy aimed at fighting Islamic State in Syria.

I also read on FR that the Kurds were going to align themselves with the Russians in fighting ISIS.
Does that, in combination with this, mean that the US is allied with Russia in this matter, after all the talk to the contrary?

This is from Reuters. Their veracity is already in question, and claims that the Kurds and any element of the Islamic resistance to Bashar al-Assad have formed a meaningful alliance are not really credible.
The Kurds really fared much better under the secular rule of Assad, as he was not into the religious persecution thing that EVERY Islamic Jihadist conducts against minorities.
There are two different Kurdish groups, the YPG in Syria, that the Turks attacked to prevent them cutting ISIS off from the border, and the KPP, which is anti-Turkish, in Iraq.
The YPG doesn’t trust Obama. He has left them hanging after promising support, several times.
