That kinda depends. Trump certainly would be required to pay royalties. But unless he's using it in an ad to sell a product, he should be good, same as it playing in a restaurant etc.
On the other hand, nothing stops someone from filing suit, founded or not.
Copyright law is very complicated made only more so by Congress intervening now and then to protect people.
I think people are still trying to figure out the intricacies of the 35 year old reversion rule.
And don’t underestimate Disney protecting Mickey. I am sure when the time rolls around again someone in Congress will help them out.

Related to that, if not the subject of this thread, Tyler was so sure Mama Kin would be the song that made Aerosmith that he went out and got his “Ma Kin” tattoo. I don’t get it. It’s an okay little blues number, but was never destined to set the world on fire. Dream On was the obvious game changer.

The truth of the matter is this: a copyright is only as good as its holder, and its holder's defense of the copyright.
If Tyler didn't defend the copyright to "Dream On" that would mean anyone would be able to use it anytime for any reason and NOT compensate Aerosmith for the song.
Copyright holders have to show defense of their work in order to maintain the copyright.
That's the law. Tyler's simply doing what he's supposed to do to defend the copyright.
It's nothing more than that.
He also has permission from Dee Snyder and Twisted Sister to use the song.
Trump doesn't have permission from Steven Tyler/Aerosmith.
