Springfield attorney Kent Gray on Friday was named Illinois state campaign director for businessman and TV reality personality Donald Trumps bid for the Republican presidential nomination.
Gray has worked as an advance man and consultant in previous Republican presidential campaigns, setting up events for candidates that included Bob Dole, George W. Bush, John McCain, and in the last White House election, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich.
Grays legal practice includes election law and ballot access, and he will be in charge of fielding petition signatures from voters that are needed to put Trump and a slate of delegates onto the March 15 primary ballot. Gray worked on Illinois ballot access for McCains 2008 campaign.
The signature-gathering process began Thursday with documents to be filed with the State Board of Elections in early January.

Makes me wonder if he truly supports Trump, as campaign chief for Illinois will Kent Gray follow Trump’s lead and pay his own way, work for free, after all he doesn’t need to raise money for Trump which is 90% of the job.
Excellent.
His job is to get Trump on the ballot in IL.
Illinois ballot access laws are a real piece of work.
If you don’t do it right, the opposition will nail your hide to the wall, pronto.
