The mass shootings in incidents across the country have spurred many schools and churches to look for new ways to increase security.
One of the most unique strategies is now in place at a private San Bruno school. An undercover private security firm is on the Church of the Highlands campus, using a strategy normally reserved for protecting corporate clients.
The school has not had any violent incidents, but leaders were concerned about what has been going on around the country and decided to boost security without making the effort obvious.
"I keep everything concealed," said Manny Sanchez, a former longtime law enforcement officer who serves as an armed, undercover agent for the Kingdom Group security firm. "Does it look like I have anything with me? No. So that's the way I try to keep it."
The schools said parents and staff are well aware of the armed agents.
"Historically it's been a touchy issue for a lot of schools," Pastor Jeff Scoch said. "And I know we debated it quite a bit, but we thought that at this point in time with what's going on in our culture, it was the prudent thing to do."
Church of the Highlands is the Kingdom Group's first school client.
"It's undercover from the standpoint of not sticking out," said James Vierra, Kingdom Group president. "But they are also part of the culture here, so they are part of the staff."

This is exactly what needs to be done, as well as beefing up structural security as well IMO.
I suppose it makes some form of senses, somehow, maybe, to have an uncover armed agent on the campus. Make a big deal about teachers going to firearms training and a blanket permit for any teacher to carry concealed on campus and the issue is done with. No one will risk having their head blown off by the Home Economics teacher or the coach, they’ll go find some other disarmed victim zone to seek the fame in the newspapers.
Gun free zones hire armed security. What a hoot.

Only a fool and/or public school officials would object to have undercover security at the schools.

When will Americans wake the hell up and get it this THIS IS AMERICA? We don’t need to hire security for schools. Send any teacher who wishes to shooting and safety classes and arm them. Make it clear to these animals that any plan to try and carry out a slaughter is likely to fail and end with the death of the shooterbefore he accomplishes his sick mission.
Why does it never occur to these people to train armed parent volunteers who will guard for free?
The school probably prefers that parents not be hanging around the school all day.
It makes sense at that school. It’s only a few blocks away from the San Francisco County Jail, located in San Bruno. From time to time, inmates escape, causing havoc in the area until they’re caught. Now the school’s security would be able to defend the students from escaped inmates. On a side note, the school is right across the street from the neighborhood that burned down in a gasline explosion and fire in San Bruno. The school was lucky not to burn down.
I'm not aware of escaped inmates attacking schools but, whatever, this makes sense for any school unless officials start allowing armed teachers.

Ya have a CHL/ CCW and on paid staff be it cook, clerk, teacher, janitor or grounds keeper and specified additional training from local law enforcement then protect your lambs from the wolves .......
Used to be a picture of a school teacher herding her kiddies to class from recess with a M1 carbine or possibly an M2 carbine slung over her shoulder with a spare mag pouch on the sling. Israeli school marm I believe .......

I used to mountain bike in the area; there’s an old abandoned lookout station above the jail on the hill.

Texan, you used to live around here? Some 45 years ago I went to Skyline College a couple of blocks away, just over a hill on the campus. We were aware of the jail. Some prisoner escaped and was caught in a home nearby. Not likely the inmates would bother students, as they would only be interested in getting away. A friend of my wife lived in a home bordering the campus. Some thieves broke in and stole all his guns (he was so sad). Now if an inmate did a break-in like that the inmate would be mighty pleased! Anyway, graduated from there before going on to State U. Skyline College is a great school, with good views of the Pacific and mountains, and now with new hiking and bike trails.

When I lived there, I mountain biked at the old missile tracking station at the top of the ridge. It had great views: Pacifica on one side and SFO on the other side.
On a clear day you could see the Farallon islands.
