Newt Gingrich said he would consider taking up the Speaker’s gavel again if called upon to by House Republicans.

The former Speaker initially denied any interest in a return to Congress, but when pressed in an interview with radio show host Sean Hannity on Thursday, admitted he would consider it if he had the votes.

Nice to see some like minded.

True story that Newt was under some kind of duress with Bill Clinton residing in the White Dog House and Trailer Park, he made out of it, and who was a popular prez and not easy to challenge with the public cooing over him.

And quite a good point that Newt performed like Trump talks by making deals and being “effective”. Wow. yes! Newt WAS all that.

And dufee, the silver plate Newt left behind to Republicans was squandered and spending did spiral upward, until now the whole place stinks of corruption.

Hey I’m not supporting the guy.

All I’m saying is, I’m myself no longer appalled by him.

I think he could reinvigorate himself. Maybe. :D

No the Speaker of the House does not have to be a sitting member of Congress. Anyone can run.

Somewhere deep in the bowels of the GOPe...

Rove: "Reince? REINCE!!"

Preibus: "WHAT Karl?"

Rove: "I've GOT it! Got the way to get rid of TRUMP!"

Preibus: "Spill it man!!"

Rove: "Get the word out to our reliable GOPe sheep in the House,
ELECT DONALD TRUMP as SPEAKER of the HOUSE!

Preibus: "Good gawd, Rove, you magnificent bastard!"

Rove: "I still got it don't I?"

Preibus: "You sure do. I'll call the A's thru M's, you take the N's thru Z's!"

Rove: "SMILE AND DIAL!! BWHAHAHA!!!"

Maybe I missed something, but doesn't the Speaker need to be a member of Congress?

Nope. Congress can elect anyone they want for speaker. Newt would be fine but I would prefer Sarah Palin.

No thanks.

Paul Ryan will want the job after he thinks about it.

Bring him back! Gingrich took the fall for the shutdown, although as usual it was the fault of the Dems and their non-negotiability tactic. But Gingrich achieved his goals, and that’s what we need. As the late great Janis Joplin sang, “freedom’s just another word for nothing left to lose.” And Gingrich has nothing left to lose.

Excellent post Rita. Heck the man got a liberal president to sign welfare reform!

I’d take Mr. Newt over Ryan. They are both pro-amnesty but somehow I think I’d trust Newt to listen to the reps. And I love listening to him speak about the founding fathers and Constitution. Comparing him to Obama would be hilarious.

Remember his answer to the first primary debate in 2012?

Having him and Trump take on the media would be entertaining!

Better to have an outsider with few connections to the Establishment.

In mulling this over, of those running or considering it the only one I’d trust to try to stop Obama’s executive actions is Newt. He handles confrontation well. I ca only see Ryan trying to sweep it under the rug. Webster also seems a bit milquetoast.

If Newt came back, the liberals would have a stroke.

That would be so much fun.

Obsess on the small crap much?

Not a candle do these little bones of complaint hold to the remarkable job Newt did in Congress. Best Speaker of the House since WWII, and you peddle in puddles of contempt over the small stuff. Never mind you. You’re all wet.

"Newt Gingrich balanced the budget and had the Contract with America, I can deal with him."

He even brought my died in the wool Democrat Step-father around to become a Republican.
