Saw this and it was awesome!

Another reason why Cruz would make an awesome president or vice president!

The Sierra Club's affirmative action policy really backfired on them here.

I watched it yesterday.

I very much doubt that Aaron Mair, president of the Sierra Club, thought that he was "demolished." Nor do I have any confidence that the people who were sitting behind him thought that he had been demolished, or that they had been demolished.

That doesn't stop you and I from thinking that Sen. Cruz did well, but I doubt that he scored any points in the minds of the AGW constituency.

Never send an EEO Rufus to battle a true brain.

Knife in gunfight, etc.

They were not convinced, but they know that it's embarrassing for the head of an organization to be unable to answer questions on topics he claims expertise in, and for him to repeat the exact same memorized line twenty times in a row rather than even attempting a logical refutation.

Cruz did not convince them, but Mair convinced no one.

He was very much demolished. He had no idea how to answer the questions. Basically Mair is answering like a snob. His answers were essentially to say that there is global warming because we say so.

Mair was crushed by Cruz’ questioning. He was totally unfamiliar with the global warming facts.

He was evasive and seemed totally ignorant.

“I doubt that he scored any points in the minds of the AGW constituency.”

They are impervious to reason and to honesty. They are responsive only to personal punishment...sometimes...when they are not sado-masochists. In those cases, they are responsive only to dominance.

Liberals are loathe to admit being wrong. BHO is the most prominent example.

All you have to do to get a liberal agitated is to ask fact filled questions just like lawyer Cruze did with his cross examination of this guy who had to be fed an answer by staff.

The way he had to keep leaning back to be fed his answers by his “experts” would have been mortifying to a legitimate scientist, leader of an organization that supposedly bases its policy position on scientific data and scientific thinking.

But of course we all know that he is not a legitimate scientist - and that the organization he supposedly runs is not a legitimate scientific organization. Any more than Planned Parenthood is a medical organization.

Obviously Mr. Mair is a puppet, a front-man, for the people who actually run the Sierra Club. No different than those “minority-owned companies” that spring up to suck up earmarked funds at every level of government.

I think that you are correct. I do not think that Aaron Mair has the brainpower to realize that he has no scientific basis for his outlandish claims.

There is little discussion of a comparison between satellite data that are based on data collected from the entire Earth, and the very limited data collected from a relatively low number of land stations and bouys. There is no comparison between a relatively low number of questionable land temperature measurement stations, and the complete coverage provided by data measurements by satellite. The daily volume of temperature data provided by satellites that circle the earth every 90 minutes is monumental!

All Aaron Mair could do is cite highly questionable sources of "preponderance" of scientists. He has NO meaningful or valid data and evidence to support his assertion that global warming is caused by man.

To me he looked like a big dummy! He continues to be a hero to the scientifically illiterate.

I believe that claim has been debunked more than once.

Many - if not most - of the "climate scientists" that are numbered among that "97%" are bureaucrats of the UN, the EU, and various NGOs and their donors and fundraisers.

Help get financial support for the AGW gravy train and you too can get your name on a list of "climate scientists."

The Sierra Club president cited the opinions of the scientists of the Union of Concerned Scientists. Please meet one of these scientists:

Friday Funny – The newest member of the Union of Concerned Scientists
Anthony Watts / October 7, 2011
Readers may recall this story a few weeks back:
Be a “concerned scientist” – valid credit card required

http://wattsupwiththat.com/2011/10/07/friday-funny-the-newest-member-of-the-union-of-concerned-scientists/

Apparently, the claim is true, all that is required to be a member of the illustrious group of “concerned scientists” is a valid credit card.

I suspect that all of them have a vested interest in AGW. Their income is based on the premise that man is causing global warming. They are a bunch of "Harpies" that get away with their false claims because they are backed by politicians who hope to get rich as a result of the global warming hoax.

Ideally the government scientific community would put together a group of scientists with zero ties to the global warming money trough. There are many out there and available.

Yeah, and they'll instantly be accused of being in the pay of "the carbon industry" if they do.

The government wants AGW because it's a way to justify increased centralized power over every walk of life based on the claim that the world is going to end if they're not given that power.

Hah. I missed that “Union of Concerned Scientists” line in Mr. Mair’s testimony, which embarrasses me because he repeated it four or five times.

Based on Mr. Watts’ research, the “Union of Concerned Scientists” is every bit as legitimate as the Roy Rogers Riders Club or the Tiger Beat “I Love Justin!” club.

Actually, I made up that last one. But there was a Roy Rogers Riders Club, I’m pretty sure.

Cruz is agreed by legal experts to be one of the best legal minds in the country. And this raises a very interesting question: while he no doubt would be a superb president or vice president; he might be far more effective as a justice of the Supreme Court, taking a seat from one of the liberals.

This would mean an entire branch of the government would be controlled by conservatives. Not Democrats, and not Republican establishment types.

Right now, justice Kennedy controls the swing vote, and on the most important issues, he sides with the left, as long as he is the swing vote. He was enraged at chief justice Roberts for being the swing vote on Obamacare, as it denied him, Kennedy, the place in the law books as the justice who found in favor of Obamacare.

Had Roberts *not* voted for Obamacare, not only would it have still won with Kennedy’s vote, but it would have given the left everything it wanted. But with Roberts vote, he could write the decision, and insert several “poison pills” into Obamacare that will truly matter in the future.

So basically, Roberts had no choice.

But if Ted Cruz replaced one of the liberal justices, likely Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the court would be firmly set as a conservative court. By a firm 5-4 vote, liberalism would be shot down with every decision.

Longstanding precedents would be overturned, vast numbers of federal regulations would be thrown out. Great big globs of federal power would be discarded.

In that it would be a lifetime appointment, the SCOTUS could be conservative for 20 years. A very long time as these things go.

Ted Cruz as a justice of the Supreme Court could likely do more, and faster, than he could as president.

I e-mailed the WUWT link to Ted Cruz and suggested he might like to ask the Sierra Club official what opinion the Union of Concerned scientist, Kenji, has about the pause in Global Warming.

Think about Mair’s job....he has to know nothing, prove nothing, show no evidence for anything he says.....just express an opinion, recite the talking points, and probably pull down a pretty good salary.

Notice the expressions of Cruz’s aides, as opposed to those of Sierra Club dude. Priceless.
