So is this his plan to keep his job? He knew he was going to be shown the door so now he hijacks the process and basically declares himself leader until otherwise? Can he do this?

He may be smarter than I thought. There may never be the requisite numbers behind any candidate. Boehner could be there for a while. I could see the RINOs and “conservatives” having enough power to block each others candidates. Where would a compromise candidate come from.

Getting common sense non corrupt leadership will certainly take persistence patience and a high tolerance for obnoxiousness
But it will happen.

Hell, John, we could have had a new Speaker earlier today.
Just not Kevin McCarthy. There were other names in the running, you know.

I've been listening to Fox all day and their talking heads claim the obstructionists are the conservative caucus.
I think this move by boner is equally plausible as the RINOe end game. It is equally plausible that the RINOes want to maintain the status quo and beat the conservative caucus by procedure instead of votes.

If a resolution to vacate the chair shows the crier the door, what is the mechanism in the Senate that could result in a no confidence vote for Mr. McConnell? And is any Senator moving towards that end?

Oh, Goody! Boehner gets to hang around and stuff the ballot boxes of twist arms for the GOP-e as long as he feels like it.
Just when you think the loser is finally gone he hangs on for another round of the destruction of America and the mindless advancement of the Banana Republicans for their crony donators.
Can't somebody slip something stronger in his quart-sized martini glass and carry him out the side door just one last time and dump him on some 1st tee someplace, anyplace? Please??

It needs to be made very clear to Boehner that he announced he would leave the Speaker chair and his seat at the end of October, 2015.
