The Left's Most Beloved Boogeyman: The NRA

The NRA is probably the far-left's most beloved boogeyman. Any time there is a tragedy involving a firearm, liberals from the top down are quick to blame the NRA and even insinuate that the organization is gleeful that people have died.

Unsurprisingly, the left seems completely flummoxed as to why the NRA and other Second Amendment supporters oppose some gun laws that have been floated by liberals in the past few years, despite these laws having the support of a majority of Americans.

Counter headline should be: "At Umpuqua CC, more innocent people fall victim due the infringement of their 2nd amendment rights."

Of course, the left's ultimate objective is to take away all the guns from the average citizens. For your own good of course. Then only the left-appointed functionaries will have guns.

Then the left says, oh by the way, there's several other rights er things we want to abolish. You know that pesky free speech thing. You really don't need that. There will be several other uh things we might need to abolish. For your own good naturally. What can you do about it now? Nothing. Bend over and take it.

“despite these laws having the support of a majority of Americans.”

Not sure I even believe that.

The number of Federal Agencies that have employees that are authorized to carry weapons would blow your mind. The number that don't is far exceed by the number that do.

The GOA is a MUCH better organization.

I quit the NRA when they endorsed every single Dem incumbent in NM a few years ago.

If the NRA wanted to end the problem, they would sue the government for civil rights violations on behalf of their members with RICO charges involving govt collaboration with anti gunners trying to deny rights under color of authority.

If the GOPe includes PP funding, Conservatives should put in funding for the NRA to conduct gun safety classes!

Then sit back and watch liberal heads explode.

Hmmm. Not sure if the 2 or 3 ‘actual’ conservatives in congress can swing that. :>}

It’s the downside to Alinsky’s Rule 12: “Pick the target, freeze it, personalize it, and polarize it.” The practitioner begins to believe his own crap. In point of fact, the NRA is a lobbying organization consisting of between 4 and 5 million members. Its influence is far beyond its numbers - AARP, for example, is roughly ten times that size. Were every NRA member rounded up and put in a camp - and believe me, that’s a proggie wet dream - nothing much in the way of numbers would change. The NRA is a convenient target for the Two Minutes’ Hate, and if it didn’t exist they’d have to invent it.

Good morning.

I hope you are doing well.

If the NRA wanted to end the problem, they would sue the government for civil rights violations on behalf of their members with RICO charges involving govt collaboration with anti gunners trying to deny rights under color of authority.

Imho, both the NRA and its members would lack standing. Why? Because every time 0bama, his regime and the anti gun nuts spout off, the NRA gets more members, more weapons are sold (Armalite thanks you), and more ammo is sold.

No harm, no foul.

No less than Bill Clinton credited the NRA with keeping Al Gore out of the White House.

Well everyone lacks standing when a lib wants something but the counter is that govt indeed passed laws restricting gun ownership, type, capacity and so forth so harm has occurred.

Even if so, this is why we have a constitutional republic instead of a democracy: individual rights are not subject to the whims of the majority ... and RKBA ensures it remains that way.

Like every lobbyist or salesman who ever made a pitch, they know the percentages go up when making the pitch to somebody who’s already bought from them. It’s as simple as that, aka “dancing with the one that brung ya.”

Would someone please tell me what gun control law would have prevented this shooting. The guy had no criminal or mental health history. His guns were not bought using the so-called gunshow loophole. Executing 9 people when you have 6 weapons wouldn't require oversized magazines. Were so-called assault weapons involved?

The left always wants to put laws in effect that have nothing to do with what happened.
