Republican presidential candidate Jeb Bush's wonkish ways may be turning off voters and some donors are starting to worry that their man is not living up to expectations. Here are three issues keeping donors up at night:
In national polls, Bush has trailed Donald Trump for weeks and is now solidly behind Ben Carson and Carly Fiorina.
"Would I like to see him as the front-runner? Of course! one major bundler said. Another fundraiser based in New York was impressed with Bush's debate performance but is worried that Bush has lost his footing in the crowded GOP field. The latest NBC/WSJ poll shows that Bush is down 7 points since late July.
The Washington Post reported that some Bush donors may defect if Bush's popularity sags.
Bush senior adviser and fundraiser Austin Barbour discounts any notion that donors could stray.
"I don't think any rational or reasonable person looking at this race is going to go switch horses right now by looking at polls," said Barbour, who is also tasked with campaign fundraising.
Other Bush advisers have stressed to ABC News that the campaign is in its early phases.
"I've been fortunate to deal with donors for over a decade. Donors are always gonna be nervous, you got to love them for it," Barbour added. "Politics to many of them is a foreign sport and they don't understand the ebbs and flows of a campaign. They will be nervous until election day and that's just how it is."

I think his donors would be more comforted if they spoke Spanish. That appears to be the only thing Senor Bush is interested in.
The GOP elite is in denial.
Bush is a bad candidate and let them throw away good money on him.
He’s like the Nigerian prince promising them a return on their investment.
Which so far isn’t paying off.
Maybe Haley “Boss Hog” Barbour can pay some Black Democrats to vote for Jeb! in the Republican primaries. That worked for him in stealing the senatorial primary run-off in Mississippi for Thad “The Dead” Cochran last year. Conservatives will never forget that blatant corruption of the GOPe.
How did that work out?
That appears to be the only thing Senor Bush is interested in.
...
That and the Joyful Tortoise’s desire to govern like LBJ.
“Politics to many of them is a foreign sport and they don’t understand the ebbs and flows of a campaign. Especially when they see their money flowing right down the drain.”
What he really meant to say.
The difference in the coming year is conservatives will probably go with Trump if Cruz fades.
In contrast, the GOP moderate vote is split among several candidates, none of which benefits Jeb unless they drop out.
And Marco Rubio is a greater threat to Jeb than Trump at this point in time.
Bush will lose and the Republican elites will sit out this election. Still it will not have the same devastating effect for the eventual nominee that it did in 2008 and 2012 when huge numbers of disgruntled conservatives stayed home.
#1: Jeb really sucks.
#2: Jeb is NOT a conservative.
#3: Jeb loves him some illegal aliens.
It has been report of LBJ to have said in the heyday of Civil Rights and his Great Society he uttered something to the effect “I’ll have those N-words voting Democrat for 50 years [or some such].”
One can only surmise that with Senor Bush’s campaign conducted largely on the basis of compassionate conservatism that revolves solely around unfettered immigration and legalization/citizenship of those illegals here and coming here, he is thinking those same words with the exception that N-words have been replaced by Hispanics and Democrat has been replaced with Republican.
I thinking about sending him a check. I’m thinking a hundred pesos would be fair. An act of love actually.
No, voters are turned off because Bush encapsulates the problem people have with the Inside the Beltway gang.
Jeb Bush, Jeb Bush & Jeb Bush.
Man if I were a donor for this putz, I’d feel fairly condescended to after this article.
George, George, and Jeb.
Bush’s praise of Boehner only shows he’s tone-deaf to political reality.
That the Beltway leaders he’s so enamored of are loathed by much of the country.
Yup, that’s a formula right there to win the GOP nomination.
Thanks for the memories......
