A senior Republican official is urging Kentucky Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) to resign from his job as the Republican leader of the Senate.
Mitch is a good and honorable guy, but the base is leaving our party, Roger Villere, the chairman of the Louisiana GOP...
Ive worked for 12 years as chairman to build this party, and I just dont want to see it all go down the drain because the [leaders] arent willing to fight for what we believe Our base is demanding we do something or theyre going to leave us, said Villare, who also holds a position at the Republican National Committee.
...
McConnell could have suspended consideration of confirmations for all presidential appointees, except for those who are essential to national security, until the president rescinded his unconstitutional executive action on amnesty.
This would have been a constitutionally appropriate response to the overreach of the executive branch
...
Not trying to repeal Obamacare, not defunding Planned Parenthood, not trying to stop illegal immigration That is what Republicans ran on and once they were elected they did not follow up with their promises.
The governor of Lousiana, Bobby Jindal, has also called for Mitchell to resign

Maybe he could use his retirement time to buy a chin implant.
First sentence, two lies.
AMEN to that!!!!!!!!!!!
Boehner’s resignation will mean little unless McConnell leaves too. If the GOP wants to restore any shred of credibility it must get rid of McConnell.
The base isn’t paying into the Senate election fund, so the “base” can GTH, as far as mcconnell is concerned.
He’d be happy enough to continue to serve as minority leader, as long as he can keep living in DC instead of Kentucky and the buck$ keep rolling in.
Yea. Get off the gravy train Mitch! LMAO.
The time for that request was years ago.
Mitch just needs to quit and become part of the party that he loves.
Look for him in the next election with a D behind his name. He will vote exactly the same on important issues and maybe he won’t want to punch any of his voters in the nose.
Yes he needs to resign.
Look at the open letter I posted here after the election.
And then look at the snarky comments of those who say it cannot happen.

Open Letter to Mitch McConnell
Congratulations on your win. It is commendable that you were able to keep another liberal Democrat from gaining a foothold in the US Senate. For that, you deserve thanks and credit.
Now, though, after the huge Republican win, it’s time for you to recuse yourself from consideration for the Majority Leader position.
Unfortunately you have been too divisive and polarizing over the past year.
Your extreme comments against fellow Republicans make it such that you’ve spent too much goodwill among the whole Big Tent.
Your comments in fact amount to a conflict of interest in leading the whole of the Republican Party in the Senate.
Your being Leader would prove counterproductive and not be the best way forward for efficient and pro-active Conservative movement.
Thank you Senator McConnell, in advance, for doing what is best for the nation and taking yourself out of consideration for Majority Leader.

Resign My left Foot! Both he and Boehner should be tarred and feathered!
HOORAY Roger Villere
If McConnell had any idea that he was in the opposition party and is concerned about the wins and losses of the party he would resign. He is not. He is an agent of the Democrat Party bought and paid for by the Democrat party and subject to the release of information held by the NSA and the Democrat Party.
[Our base is demanding we do something or theyre going to leave us,]
We’ve already left you. But keep working to get that rat out. Now, about Jebby Bush, Marco Rubio, iCarly Fiorina, John Kasich, Chris Christie, Lindsey Graham, John McCain, et al ............
Folks, I won’t be jumping for joy until we have two truly Conservative people sworn in as Speaker and Majority Leader.
In the Senate that’s almost impossible. What a disgusting body of politicians.
What we’re doing is swapping out tired older crusty Leftist Republicans for younger less tired ambitious Leftist Republicans.
These guys will have the energy to reach across the isle more often.
This is A VERY CRITICAL TIME right now.
This is when we must be active like seldom before.
I thought so, too. Was about to say something similar.
Brutus was an honorable man...
Until they come out honestly and call him the POS he actually is, there is no point listening to any of them.
F’ the soft pedaling ‘honorable’ talk. It’s crap.
This is the only way to neuter the Trump, Fiorina, Carson rouge movement . Put on the store front that the republicans will be a conservative party. Maybe it isn’t a facade, we’ll see.
No. The time to be active was election day and most failed utterly. Now we are at the mercy of the lesser evils that liberal Republican voters demanded.
They have not listened before. If they oust Mitch it will be for their reasons. they care not about our opinion.
Elect principled people.
I understand where you are coming from, but over the last two election cycles we have sent many fairly good people back to Washington, D. C.
The GOPe has found a way to keep them from being productive, mostly with MConnell and Boehner IMO.
There are there. Hopefully they pay off now.
