I think they should elect Sarah Palin to be speaker.
Just watch the heads explode.
This kind of thing can be the norm if we keep the pressure on. We can reform the party if we keep the pressure on. Being willful and tenacious is how you win in this imperfect world of ours. That’s how the left took over the Democrat party. We can do the same with the Republicans.
I feel like I been run right through the mill
And I can’t move around and I can’t stand still
I’m Bo Didley
Oh, you got me shakin’
I’m so jittery
That’s right, you got me shakin’
One step at a time.
Good. Now if the WSJ and NRO would get the message
He knew he couldn’t survive a vote. The Democrats had signaled they
were not going to save him. They no doubt wanted to, but
maybe did not want to make life more contentious by doing so.
He’ll land on his feet, of course, when sober anyway, and become a lobbyist. Or maybe he’ll just take the booty he’s already collected from lobbyists and get down to something serious, like drinking fulltime. (My higher self hopes he enters a 12 Step Program.)
Jeb is done, Turtle is now has no shell and McCain is hiding under Linda’s dress.
The last of the Bush Empire is starting to crumble....
We are going to have to see who his replacement is. We could just be treading water if he is not a Conservative.
I am still surprised that Boner didn’t cut a deal with the Rats to have them support him.
They’d be shaking a lot more than that if they knew what their constituents thought of them.
I’m reminded of a scene in Oliver Stone’s, ‘Nixon’ in which Nixon is at a cocktail party with Nelson Rockefeller.
Rockefeller: “What’s your prediction, Dick? Your boy Goldwater going to split the party?”
Nixon: “Some say you are Rocky.”
Rockefeller: “Let me tell you something Dick. Every time the Republican party is a home to extremism we lose the election. This guy Goldwater is as stupid as McCarthy. And McCarthy never did you any good in the long run.”
That scene encapsulates 50 years of Republican capitulation.
I think you’re right.
In fact, it may even by worse.
Right about now, some GOPe types are looking at the poll numbers Trump is getting, eyeballing the power and money at stake, and are starting to consider some hardball, down and dirty options. They have already monkeyed with the nominating rules to favor themselves, and they are continuing to do so even now.
Boehner may not have the stomach for, or even object to, what he’s been asked to do or support in the coming fight. He figures he’s toast as Speaker anyway, so why not get out now before the election?
That scenario ought to keep everybody awake at night...deeds so low that even John Boehner can’t be a party to them....
He's getting out..while the getting is good.
Take his luxury retirement..and move to the Hamptons...
Get a gig with some lobbyist group..and run the game on whom ever....
Kevin McCarthy is going to be Speaker.
He is as bad as Boehner minus the orange tan and the fake tears.
Don’t let up. There’s still plenty of Rinorats scurrying around in House... and the Senate, who need to be drop-kick out.
If only the GOP would realize, we elect Republicans to represent We, The People, not the interests of Washington insiders.
This is a step towards cleaning up the GOP. May the clean-up continue.
You’re reading the tea leaves correctly.
“Kevin McCarthy is going to be Speaker.
He is as bad as Boehner minus the orange tan and the fake tears.”
If so we did not gain a damn thing.
If this is how the Republican voters feel about their presidential candidates, then you can be damn sure that they're ready to throw their Congressmen out of office in 2016 as well. Boehner knew this, and that's why he's gone.
