Boehner’s Exit Leaves GOP Establishment Shaking

That sound you hear around Washington right now is the sound of the Republican establishment shaking.

House Speaker John Boehner’s resignation under duress—a move that was both a shock and years in the making at the same time—means tea-party-styled forces have further ratcheted up their power within the party. With each such move, the grip of what people think of as the Republican party establishment—big business donors, official party leaders, congressional leaders whose tenure dates back more than a decade or so—is loosened a bit more.

It’s worth remembering that the Boehner departure, while a big blow to that establishment, is hardly the first one. Utah Sen. Robert Bennett, previously considered a thoroughly reliable conservative, was defeated in 2010 in a tea-party revolt. Next came Indiana Sen. Richard Lugar, another party icon, defeated in similar fashion in 2012.

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor—the man once positioned to take Mr. Boehner’s place—was defeated in a 2014 primary at the hands of the very tea-party forces he had tried to corral. Meanwhile, in the nascent 2016 presidential campaign, establishment favorite Jeb Bush has been marginalized by populist voters more enamored of complete outsiders Donald Trump, Carly Fiorina and Ben Carson.

Boehner can still attempt to get amnesty and abortion funding through so he’s still dangerous.

He should not be allowed to stay until the end of October.

This is a ruse, a carrot for conservatives.

Yes, it is TIME!

Time for Boehner to go, but remember, this is one battle in a war for the future of the Republic.

It is TIME to DownSize DC! Close entire Rogue/Uconstitutional Departments including their SWAT Teams.

Conservatives have an opening to get a more conservative speaker.

If they don’t take it — have backbone — they may never get this kind of chance again.

If they settle for the next in line moderate, they will continue to be battered by the leadership.

An oligarch buffoon, Amen to that. He's probably at the nearest bar having his usual tripe double with a Galiano float. Cheers bonehead, you worthless piece of human drivel.

I wonder how much damage that oligarch will do on his way out?

We should celebrate his defeat. But be very wary.

No. Carly Fiorina is supported by establishment types. Get it straight.

They’re not shaking. It’s the sound of counting their lobbyist money.

They plan on doing the usual. Boehner made deals with Pelosi on his way out to make sure PP is funded, Iran deal goes through, etc. Then business as usual.

Yup.

Our choice for speaker should be Dave Brat. 100% CR rating. One of two in the house to score that high. Demonstrated giant killer.

Will be for naught if Uber-RINO Kevin MCCarthy becomes Speaker.

The guy has a 53% conservative lifetime rating re voting record.

And he’s a liberal and big amnesty-loving pimp. A Boehner Mini-me.

Hold the cheers.

Small battle win, but we’re still losing the war. We still don’t know who will replace him and we still don’t know if the new leader will be reliable or not

“I was conservative before a lot of these cats were even born, so I’m not going to be lectured by them on what’s conservative,” former House Republican leader Trent Lott told the Journal’s Reid Epstein.

Says the guy who now works in DC as a lobbyist for Squire, Patton & Boggs

The Constitution places few restrictions on the people’s house.
“...The House of Representatives shall choose their Speaker”...”
(Article 1 Section 2)
The “who” and the “how” are determined solely by the Representatives.

The amnesty, open-borders pimps at the WSJ are not happy, for sure. Never forget these are the idiots that wanted to pass a constitutional amendment stating: “There shall be open borders”.

Why not kick Boner out now? Many companies, upon a two week notice of quitting/resigning, will escort you out the door immediately. Why not show Boner the door now?

He probably got a better offer. I’m not optimistic about this being a true win for conservatives, not a long-term win.
