Pope Speaks Out for Unborn, Natural Family in UN Address - C-Fam
CFAM.org ^ | September 25, 2015 | Austin Ruse

Posted on 09/25/2015 6:27:56 PM PDT by Mrs. Don-o

NEW YORK, September 25 (C-Fam) World leaders broke out into applause 27 times during the Pope’s address to the UN General Assembly today, including when he called for the defense of the “right to life,” and called the family the “primary cell of any social development.”

Pro-life and pro-family advocates welcomed the speech as an improvement upon the more subtle references to their causes during the Pope’s address to the U.S. Congress. Culture of Life President Robert Royal called the UN talk a powerful and explicit defense of human life and natural marriage even though the words “abortion” and “homosexuality” were not used. Royal is on the board of C-Fam, publisher of the Friday Fax.

At the UN, Pope Francis gave several examples of how to apply the four principles of Catholic social teaching–the common good, solidarity, subsidiarity, and human dignity–which he mentioned explicitly during his talk to Congress. Regarding subsidiarity, he argued for the “primary right of the family to educate its children,” and a rejection of “an all-powerful elite.”

He condemned “ideological colonization” as he had done in the encyclical Laudato Si, in a reference to basing aid to poor countries on their acceptance of population control and other focuses offensive to their people and against domestic laws like homosexual rights.

Throughout his address, the Pope wove together his signature defense of the environment the need to end social exclusion and build solidarity. Several times throughout the 40 minute talk he linked the biology of human beings to that of nature. “Any harm done to the environment, therefore, is harm done to humanity,” the Pope said. In Cuba on Monday, he called abortion of disabled babies an example of the “throwaway culture,” what he called at the UN “a quietly growing culture of waste.”

At one point the Pope indicated that the defense of life must precede talk of the environment: “The common home of all men and women must continue to rise on the foundations of a right understanding of universal fraternity and respect for the sacredness of every human life,” including “the unborn” and adding that it should “also be built on the understanding of a certain sacredness of created nature.”

Likewise he linked defense of natural marriage to nature itself. While extolling the UN’s codification of law into written documents as one of the UN’s most “important common achievements,” he invoked natural law, what he called the “a moral law written into human nature itself, one which includes the natural difference between men and women,” as also demanding “an absolute respect for life in all its stages and dimensions.”

Conversely, he lamented the promotion of “false rights” and said “no human individual is or group can consider itself absolute, permitted to bypass the dignity and rights of other individuals or their social groupings.” In this he echoed his predecessor, Pope Benedict XVI, who referred in his 2008 UN address to the attempt to pit human rights, such as those of a mother and child, against each other in a false competition that left elites to decide which trumps.

While the Pope mentioned explicit policy prescriptions such as the Sustainable Development Goals and the upcoming climate change talks in Paris, he did not specifically endorse them. Rather he called them a sign of “hope.” He warned against the “empty chatter” of setting goals but making no real difference in the lives of “real men and women who live, struggle, and suffer.”

Austin Ruse often has a unique insiders'/outsiders' view. Good man. He's been out there in the trenches for years, fighting the population-controllers at the U.N.

‘Pope’ Francis is not committed to the protection of the unborn, he just doesn’t believe he’ll get to have much power under a UN one world government. He is subtly trying to undermine support for such a government. The enemy of my enemy is not necessarily my friend, though.

A perfect time to clearly rebuke the UN and world governments for abortion, queer marriage, child sex slavery, etc. in clear unmistakable terms ... but no, just some more wishy washy puffery that provides deniability in the future.

...respect for the sacredness of every human life, of every man and every woman, the
poor, the elderly, children, the infirm, the unborn, the unemployed, the abandoned,
those considered disposable because they are only considered as part of a statistic. This
common house of all men and women must also be built on the understanding of a
certain sacredness of created nature.

This is Bernardin's "seamless garment". A Catholic can donate to Planned Parenthood,
but work for the environment, or for the unemployed, and have every right to Holy
Communion, to call himself a Catholic in good standing.

Good, he was more clear in this speech about where the Church stood and where he stands.

Didn't Jesus say that if you are lukewarm, he will spew you out of His mouth?

“also be built on the understanding of a certain sacredness of created nature.”

Worshipping the creation rather the creator.

These meandering homilys of This pope on temporal matters diffuse any theologic message Pope Francis offers.

No offense but...I read he said such and such but then don’t see it in a quote. Does anyone have a copy of the speech? Hoping this article is not wishful thinking of someone trying to parse Francis speaking in generalities.

even though the words “abortion” and “homosexuality” were not used

You can learn a lot from people by the language they use, or do not use.

Speaking in "code" when he could have used plain terms meant something profound. When at the White House, Congress, and the UN (the 3 greatest PR platforms on the planet) he never spoke of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Instead, he spoke of redistribution (Communism), "climate change" (more scam Communism), "inclusion" (but no moral teaching on the actual Biblical definition of sin), that all beliefs are the same (which is ludicrous) and a whole host of other rubbish.

Francis and the current Vatican are trying to "build a better humanity" and are "leading the world towards that goal."

That is not the Great Commission of Jesus Christ.

Have you not read these things?

"You adulterous people! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God." James 4:4

"Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age." Matthew 28: 18-20

One of the figures of the once great Catholic church I admired was Father Malachi Martin. As you probably know, he was a Jesuit. He had 3 doctorates, spoke and wrote in 14 languages, performed hundreds of exorcism, wrote many books, and was a Vatican insider and adviser to 3 popes.

He renounced his Jesuit orders to the pope on the grounds that the "reforms" of Vatican II, and the heresy that resulted in which the church was teaching that the Scriptures were mere stories, and myths, and not the authority of God.

He was released from his vow of poverty, obedience, and his special Jesuit order of complete obedience to the pope, but retained his vow of chastity and remained a priest, although under special authority in Rome only and not under a diocese or bishop (to their great anger). The pope granted Martin this.

He was an Irish gentleman with a lilting voice, quick wit, and incredible mind.

Martin spoke out many times that Lucifer worship and control was winning control of the Vatican, and what it was leading to.

His warnings were ignored.

Father Malachi Martin: "Visits With a Vatican Insider"

Listen also to his words starting at 32:00 of that second interview. His predictions are coming true under Obama and this pope.

This interview catalogs the entire fall of the Catholic church as it is today:

Art Bell & Malachi Martin Last Interview 1998

The goal is not to "build a better humanity." The order from God Himself is to win souls for Jesus Christ through His word: repent, and accept the Lord Jesus Christ as Savior. Only then can we be redeemed through His sacrifice on the cross and resurrection and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Christ is the only way:

"I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6

Not this:

Pope Francis: We Must Combat All Types Of Religious 'Fundamentalism'

By taking this tact, and saying that all religions have the "same goal" on the lawn of the White House, he is attacking that which Christ Himself established.

Remember Mrs. Don-o, when we all stand before Jesus, there will be many who will wail to Christ, but they were never His: "Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

Matthew 7: 21-23

“Pope Francis’s Religious Freedom Rally at Independence Hall

by Kathryn Jean Lopez September 26, 2015

From the podium that Abraham Lincoln used to deliver his Gettysburg Address, Pope Francis today rallied Americans to defend religious freedom. In this place which is symbolic of the American way, I would like to reflect with you on the right to religious freedom..(snip)

And may you defend these rights, especially your religious freedom, for it has been given to you by God himself. This came days after he visited the Little Sisters of the Poor, who are doing just that in their fight against the Obamacare abortion/contraception/female sterilzation mandate. (snip)

he talked about the good that is religion for a society: Our various religious traditions serve society primarily by the message they proclaim. They call individuals and communities to worship God, the source of all life, liberty and happiness. (snip)”

Read more at: http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/424683/abendland-andrew-stuttaford

I wish I heard it live, as I think it would be my favorite speech by the Holy Father in his visit to America. It shows he understands that religious liberty, and all free will comes to us from God (just as our Founders understood).

As the Holy Father said, let’s defend our rights.
