Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones
Jones pulled petitions to run against Boehner in the 2010 primary election. He told the Journal-News today that hes weighing my options at this moment. If he runs and is elected, Jones said he would commit to only serving six years in Congress. Jones said he doesnt think anyone can beat him based on his national name recognition, which stems from his hard-line stance on immigration.
State Sen. Bill Coley
The Liberty Twp. Republican served six years in the Ohio House of Representatives and is the current state senator for Butler County, being appointed in 2011 and elected in 2012. His term ends in 2016 and he is eligible for a second term in the Ohio Senate. He would have to weigh an option of running for re-election or giving up his senate seat for a congressional seat. He currently sits on many influential Ohio Senate committees, including Education, Finance, Government Oversight and Reform, and Medicaid.
Gary Cates
Cates left the Ohio Senate in 2011 on the verge of being term limited to become the Ohio Board of Regents Senior Vice Chancellor. Before his nearly eight years in the senate, he served in the Ohio House for eight years. He wouldnt say if he would seek the seat, saying Friday, Today is Johns day.
Roger Reynolds
The Butler County Auditor has been in office since 2008 at the county level and has built up a six-figure campaign finance war chest. He did not say if he would seek the seat.
George Lang
The West Chester Twp. trustee is a long-time friend of Boehner. He is well-connected in the Butler County Republican Party and is a minority owner in the upscale restaurant Jags in West Chester Twp.

I know nothing about these people, but it’s a safe Republican district, so need to cut corners or worry about electability.
Who does the local Tea Party support?
Just to clarify because the way it is quoted: Butler is strong on immigration and all these other candidates have no records on the big issues.
The way it was written it sounded like it said Boehner was strong on amnesty so Butler could not primary him in 2010.
Anybody
Put the names of all registered Republicans in hat. Pick one.
who will governor kasich push
As far as I know, he’s staying out of it.
This district has elected two gems in a row, first it was Buz Lukens, then the Weeping Boner.
Jones is Joe Arpaio, on steroids.
Bill Coley is a penis in man’s clothing.
Is that last post meant as a compliment or a curse?
A curse, to say the least. Coley is a bully, without principles. Unlikely to be a real conservative.
Am I correct to believe that “Joe Arpaio on steroids” is your first choice?
I’m all in for Sheriff Jones given his stance on Immigration.
It would send a strong message.
Surprised this guy isnt on that list:
J.D. Winteregg for Congress: http://www.jdwinteregg.com/
*****************************************************************************************************
He SHOULD be on the list...at the top. He primaried Boehner in 2014 as a Tea Party challenger.
I’m not familiar with the other potential replacements but Jones, judging from his picture, looks like a “hard-ass” which is exactly the type we need in Congress. I’m sure the GOPe will be pushing a RINO to take the seat.
Totally. He is the dream choice.
He is a constant guest on Bill Cunningham’s radio show.
