Trump, Carson, Fiorina lead GOP pack in Iowa
The Hill ^ | 9/22/2015 | Jesse Byrnes

Real estate tycoon Donald Trump, with 24 percent, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, with 17 percent, and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, with 13 percent, take the top spots in Public Policy Polling's newest survey of GOP primary voters in the Hawkeye State. The rest of the candidates running for the Republican presidential nomination register in single digits, including Sens. Ted Cruz (Texas) and Marco Rubio (Fla.), at 8 percent each, and former Govs. Jeb Bush (Fla.) and Mike Huckabee (Ark.), at 6 percent apiece. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who dropped out of the GOP race Monday after falling dramatically in polls, takes 5 percent. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal are at 4 percent. Trump and Carson have led in the state by wide margins since shortly after the first GOP debate last month, and Tuesday's poll gives Fiorina a bounce to fourth overall in the RealClearPolitics average of polling, placing her just behind Cruz in Iowa. The polling occurred on the heels of the second GOP debate last week, during which Fiorina addressed Trump's remark about her face. Nearly 6 in 10 GOP voters in Iowa, 59 percent, found Trump's comment inappropriate, according to PPP. A majority of Iowa Republicans similarly found Trump's remark about Bush's wife during the debate inappropriate.

Thank you for having a common sense view.

How about just “lay off the insults”?

Can’t he do what he does without the personal insults?

One guy has 24% and another person has 13%.

Don’t forget, they’re both leading.

Fiorina isn’t even close to leading.

"Can’t he do what he does without the personal insults?" True. But the insults that are most inappropriate (they usually insult Trump too and often times first) are the ones dealing with women. I told him about my disgust with the insults. I advised him to focus in the issues - the record of his opponents.

The MSM will tell us that Trump and Carson are tied if Carson is the “second” choice. Wait for that analysis to no longer be the case though, since the MSM now dislikes Carson over the muslim comments.

If he insults one, he has insulted them all?

You seem pretty quick to get "offended".

I'm sure brer Trump has plenty of offers to make him a sandwich.

Old news...that dog&pony show is already over since she didn’t maintain traction after the debate. It’s not on to Rubio.

I’m a Trump supporter and this was my big issue at the beginning of his campaign. He has pulled it back some, but, can’t seem to help himself. However, having said that - when they attack him -he hits back. I’m sure there are other ways of hitting them back rather than personal insults. Ted Cruz says nothing to fight for himself and that upsets me as well, He sticks to the issues and that doesn’t seem to be resonating in the polls either. Another thing I wish Trump would stop with all the poll numbers - even those of his opponents. We are all quite aware of the polls and he doesn’t need to tweet them every day. Other than those few things - he has the best plans for this country - the biggie is illegal immigration -

You seem pretty quick to get "offended". Excuse me? That's bad manners for a man to insult a woman. Would you like it of someone insulted a women in your family or even your female friends. Whether it's Trump or some other candidate, it is offensive and WRONG. PERIOD. Many women were taken aback by his insults toward women. They even interviewed some of Trumps supporters right before his rallies, and these women stated that Trump needed to stop doing that. They even said that they would wait and see if he is truly their candidate for president. Trump has to be careful and I told him so. Insulting women is off limits. PERIOD.

I would like to believe you’re right, but the media will blow her up like a midway balloon.

I’m sure they’ll do their best for Rubio, so I’m not in disagreement with you overall.

No, but that's the way it will play out. There is a strong undercurrent of identity politics among female voters. Certain things are radioactive to them. We threw away two perfectly winnable Senate seats a few cycles back when our candidates (Aiken and Mourdock) made stupid remarks that women voters went ballistic over. I admit that insulting a woman's looks isn't in the same league as "legitimate rape", so save the flames about a false analogy, but the fact is that many women will be turned off by a perceived insult to a woman's appearance.

Cruz will steadily gain on them and pass all but maybe Trump by the time the votes are counted. Either that or Iowa Republicans will not read a newspaper, watch TV, surf the internet, or attend any meetings.

No, I’ll pass. You put out a comment or allegation but don’t support it with evidence?

Right.

Gotta always defer to the wimmins, regardless. Even if they are wrong.

Sorry. Dumb is dumb and wrong is wrong and retaliation is always fair game.
