How did she lie?
Carly said she was for the war on drugs because she lost a child.
Well it turns out it was her 35 year old step child living 3000 miles away.
The war on drugs is for illegal drugs. What killed Carly’s 35 year old step daughter was legal prescription drugs and alcohol.
Ms Fiorina was dishonest and misleading in her statment that they “buried a child”, when in fact her stepdaughter was 35 years old at the time.
She didn't technically. In her very carefully worded heart string appeal, she just allowed you (if you didn't know better) to think it was her daughter, and that the daughter died (if you didn't know better) from illegal drugs.
I knew nothing about the incident and, at first assumed it was her daughter and, having a daughter myself, felt terrible. Until I looked into it and realized what she was doing - using her dead step-daughter as a prop.
The REAL mom was pissed about it.
I listened to the debate and understood Carly to imply their daughter died from illegal drugs. Not prescription drugs and alcohol as this article says. Either way the death was sad but it could have been misleading. That was the lie.
Apparently, a daughter that is 35 years old is not a child. To me, my children will ALWAYS be my children, no matter the age.
She implied that it was her child from the above statement.
It's more like a hildabutchbitch truth than an out right lie.
You can rail about, "Show me where she lied" but you know she twisted the truth and mislead by implication.
GO CRUZ AND TRUMP.
She did not lie, at least not in the Clintonian construction of truth.
On hearing her story I assumed that: 1) the it was her biological daughter; 2) she was an actual child (at least younger than 20ish); 3) who was living with them as child/dependant; 4) had died from illegal drugs, not prescription medicine (this was defending the war on illegal drugs remember).
While nothing she said was technically untrue, it was pitched to give the, at least somewhat false, impression I detailed above.
