Federal court strikes down some D.C. gun laws as unconstitutional

In a mixed decision, a federal appeals court on Friday struck down as unconstitutional several strict gun registration laws in the nation's capital, but upheld other restrictions aimed at public safety.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled 2-1 that the city cannot ban gun owners from registering more than one pistol per month or require owners to re-register a gun every three years. The court also invalidated requirements that owners make a personal appearance to register a gun and pass a test about firearms laws.

I see George H W Bush’s gifts keep on giving... Even Obama’s appointment couldn’t stomach the DC regulations.

I guess you’re referring to GHWB’s abominable string of judicial appointments?

I believe W’s appointment to this court was Janis Rodgers Brown. An A+ in my book.

I've noticed that since 0bama has been ignoring the law and Constitution, many other agencies, from the DOJ to the EPA to mayors of sanctuary cities are doing likewise.

They're just daring someone to make them comply with the law.

We need federal Marshalls to start hauling their asses to jail.

Works for me.

The Left loves to use them. We’re just too timid.

Brown was appointed by W and is on this court. That I had right. She was not on the three judge panel that ruled in this case. The ding-dong was a GHWB judge as earlier suggested.

The GOPe leadership is so scared of being called racist by the msm, that they hardly ever criticize 0bama or challenge his un-constitutional policies.

It makes me crazy.

I agree. All the more so because he actually deals with terrorist groups known to be our enemies. John McCain is right in there with him also. Tell me that isn’t disconcerting.

And as before they will still not permit gun ownership and will still continue to pass gun laws that are unconstitutional. Because nobody stops them. There are zero consequences for them.

Good gosh! I’ve got to get my licenses and permits for the other 9 Amendments to the Bill of Rights immediately.

“...the city cannot ban gun owners from registering more than one pistol per month ...”

Yeah, I remember that little part in the US Constition where it specifically states that you have to register them in the first place...

Oh... wait... you mean, it’s NOT in the Constitution???

Silly me.

But one step at a time.

Actually that won’t work, it needs to be done at the State Level, the States are Absolutely Untouchable on the matter of CRIME, Why all those fine turds at the EPA weren’t immediately Arrested after contaminating the River through Criminal Negligence is beyond me.

A governor with balls and a Legislature at this side could straighten out Most of the Problems in this Country regarding Federal Authority.
