Well when I was in HS, I wouldn’t have given 2 craps about this either really. Unless it had to do with getting out of school early, or chance to meet girls. It’s cool most are excited.

Cheers and high-fives from high school students on learning that they will be visited by a Republican presidential candidate.

That's the feel-good video of the week.

At about :40 seconds in, a couple of black girls are not to happy about the announcement.

One can be seen making arm motions in a negative way once they say Mr. Trump’s name.

About :20 seconds later, she attacks a white/hispanic girl in the front row once it is verified that Trump is in fact going to visit.

I saw that and wondered about it. Obviously the girl in the front row is delighted that Trump is visiting, but after she is either pushed off or chooses to move herself off the bench at 1:09, she makes no further effort to get away from the black girl. She doesn't behave as though she thinks the black girl is a threat. She just keeps looking forward, smiling and applauding. So, I'm not convinced that it was actually an attack, and not just two friends goofing around.

This is a good thing. Soon it will be 90 minutes from New York to Paris.

OK, now we have the bizarre comment for our Saturday morning. Why are you popping up with this stuff?

Wake me up
When the wolves come out to play
Heat up
These white nights
We’re gonna turn this town
Into a city of lights

I noticed that also. A liberals response to anything they don't like or agree with: violence.

At least one other astute Freeper understood the reference.

It's a paen for an optimistic, bright future and better days ahead.

Though it being Donald Fagen, I can’t help thinking that it was meant to be ironic, like “New Frontier” was.

No doubt about Fagen's ironic intentions with the lyrics. But I hear the song as a cheery, optimistic piece of music that hearkens back to an earlier era.

I don't overanalyze lyrics.

In the same way, I interpret "Born in the USA" as a pro-American anthem and I will forever associate it with the "Glory Days" of the Reagan years. Though I know that gives Mr. Springsteen much angst, because he intended the song to come across a totally different way. Too bad.

BTW, for others, as I know you know this, I.G.Y. stands for International Geophysical Year and it occurred during 1957-58. This was a time when most of the governments of the world, in the midst of the Cold War, decided to work together on scientific projects. It was a time when people had hope that science was quickly advancing and would soon give us all glorious lives.

Hence, "90 Minutes from New York to Paris."

One of my all time favorite albums as well.

I know, about the over-analysation, it’s just that Donald Fagen, to this not NYC-hip southerner, has the kind of public persona which just begs for it. At least I realise my lack of sophistication, when it comes to people like him :)
