That he wanted to hurt the other kid bad, but not ten stitches bad? Or how about it was not his intention to get caught but he is to dumb to realize that not only would people see him, but there are friggin video cameras in every phone, so everywhere.
Obama’s son! Black lives Matter ya know.
This thing is a thug who should be tried for attempted murder.
Um, the kid needs some serious psychological evaluation and treatment. If he does something like this out in a high profile public venue like a football game, then what's next?
My son happens to be playing high school football as a senior right now. He knows how it goes out there and understands the heat of battle element but, he says the last thing he would ever do is take an opponents helmet off and hit him with it no, matter how frustrated he is feeling with what’s going on. It would never even occur to him to be such an idiot.
A little extra pushing and shoving in the heat of the moment....OK.....that can happen. Assaulting someone with a deadly weapon? That’s a crime. An apology and all that helps for sure. He is just a kid and I get that. But, it’s still a crime. That kid needs help of some kind.
Total BS.
It was indeed an aggression reaction, but WTF, it’s football. The pussification knows no end.
I have no problem with the family claiming it was unintentional. And that’s not to support bad sportsmanship.
15 yards. 1 game suspension. Done.
A few games penalized? Lectures?! What are you smoking?
It’s a felonious assault, and you’re a moron.
Most young people are prone to overinvesting themselves in stupid activities and having stupid reactions. I consider the fact that the player wasn’t seriously injured. From the video, it looks like to me that the player wasn’t seriously hurt and probably could have continued playing.
It does need something to show that it was completely unacceptable, but it should be balanced with what was actually done.
Unintentional in that the attacker was out of control at the moment? I think we’ve all had moments of rage in our lives where we say or do something foolish and then regret it. Fortunately, most of us don’t commit crimes in the process. That’s what this was—a crime, and even if the criminal regrets it, punishment is due.
Really? A hit in the head with a helmet should result in a multi-year sentence? He’s a punk high school kid who did something stupid, but it did not result in any serious injuries.
Why not just say that he deserves the death penalty and be done with it?
I see you are “pro-felony assault.” Good for you. I bet you supported Trayvon!
“Hopefully, his dad plants a boot in his ass.”
I think there’s a reason pops wasn’t around for the interview...
It’s generally accepted that what happens on a sports field gets handled in the game, as long as what happened didn’t result in serious injuries.
May I smash you across the face with a football helmet?
“Why not just say that he deserves the death penalty and be done with it?”
Exile him to Baltimore. He may not last the year there given their stats YTD.
No. I just think the punishment should be proportionate to what was done wrong. Some here seem to believe that all offenses should result in the death penalty.
“The mother of Fritz Moncion, the Linden, NJ high school football player who took the helmet of an opponent and hit him with it, spoke out on her sons behalf....”
What did the kid’s father have to say? Oh, I see...
The punk yanked off the other player’s helmet and struck him in the face resulting in an injury requiring ten stitches.
Would you be cool if that happened to your kid?
I don’t expect an answer from a Michael Green/Ferguson supporter.
...I see what you did there...
Poor Dindu. He was such a good lad.
