Appearing on CBS’s Face the Nation, Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson criticized Donald Trump’s proposal to deport America’s illegal immigrant population, then proposed an alternative of his own.
Of Trump’s plan, said Carson, “The logistics of it are difficult. As I’ve said, I’m all ears. If somebody can tell me exactly how you can do that, I would certainly be interested in hearing it. But the fact of the matter is, our problem is that our federal government is not supporting the local authorities at the border. . . . Until we seal our borders,” he added, “everything else is irrelevant.”
Carson then said articulated his own plan: But let’s say we get them sealed, because certainly in a Carson administration that would be done within the first year. You also turn off the spigot that dispenses the goodies, so that people don’t have any incentive to come here. Then those who are here, we have to recognize that we can’t just round them up, but we can give them an opportunity to register. I would give them a six-month period. If they register, and if they have a pristine record, they haven’t been causing problems, I would give them an opportunity to become guest workers — not citizens, not voting people, not people who get goodies. I think that would be a fair way to do it. In terms of them becoming citizens later on down the road if they’ve done things the right way, we the American people will decide what the criteria for that ought to be.

On immigration policy
WSJ: You’ve said as president you would create a path to citizenship for some of the undocumented immigrants in the United States. What would a Ben Carson path to citizenship look like?
WSJ: What would the criteria be?

It is the same as Jeb and Rubio. Carson is a GOPe Trojan horse.
This is why the liberal mainstream news media is pushing for Carson and faking polls
I think some party folks got hold of him....and explained how the delegates vote on party ideology...so he should align himself more with Jeb.
Has Carson ever said HOW he would seal the border?
Carson political career is based off one speech at a prayer breakfast. Some folks liked his speech and decided he should run for president. Other than that, he’s shown little reason why anyone should vote for him.
WSJ: What would the criteria be?
Mr. Carson: I think that’s a discussion that has to be had with Congress, which represents the people.
WSJ: So do you have a sense in your mind what that criteria ought to be?
Mr. Carson: You have to remember this is a country that is of, for and by the people. So if we’re going to allow people who have come in here illegally to become American citizens we have to have a consensus of the people of this country as to how that should be done and what the criteria are.
WSJ: But as the person who would is seeking to lead the country, what are your ideas as to what that criteria ought to be?
Mr. Carson: I would certainly encourage people to look at the lives that people have led and see whether they have led positive lives and are likely to be individuals who are going to strengthen our society rather than tear it down.
WSJ: Who would make that decision?
WSJ: Is there a panel or an element in the government that would make that decision?
Mr. Carson: The criteria would be set with the immigration department.
WSJ: Border control? ICE? What is the immigration department?
Mr. Carson: There are many components to the immigration department. ICE is only one of them. The people who decide citizenship are another component.

Carson has adopted the Ted Cruz, Rand Paul immigration plan. I prefer the Trump immigration plan
Non-politician is another one.
No Jeb and Rubio are for all out amnesty and an immediate pathway to citizenship. Since plan is more like what Cruz and Paul are saying.
I had been lo9oking hard at Carson——NO MORE.
What would happen if Carson’s personal residence was INVADED by 4 ILLEGALS? How many ways could he weasel to find ways to get them out of charges?
For those in the limelight who NEVER go to the same grocery sores I do—who NEVER have to drive where I do——who NEVER have to see these criminals that I do——their protective bubble may dissolve very soon.
They live behind guarded gates-—doormen-—multiple locked doo9rs-—have driver’s services-—and have absolutely NO CLUE how the average American lives.
As far back as over 23 years ago, I was hassled at stoplights by illegals hammering for ‘day labor’ work. I was alone in a small car & 8 of them could have easily picked up the car with me inside & literally carried it off. Very frightening—whether male or female.
Someone has to come forth & STOP WHITEWASHING the problems with INVADERS. That is what they are——They invaded the USA.

Why is everyone kissing the asses of people who broke our law?
A review of recent history might benefit Dr Carson. He should thumb to the page where the “R’s” begin...then scroll down to the word “Rubio”.
End their welfare, food stamps, obamaphones, and cash assistance, and BINGO! they will self deport. The ones who stay are workers and we want those!
Most of his rise is based on his witty comments at the end of the first debate. And, that qualifies someone to be president? People are nuts.
I don’t want ANY of them to become American citizens.
Let them go back to their own country of origin & clean up the mess they already have created there.
IF they want a better life-—they need to carve it out for themselves where they are a real part of the fabric of the community. They don’t need to contaminate a new place. They only seem to understand English when it benefits their situation of the moment.
Pandering to them is a seious mistake.
Reward the criminals while the ones that follow the process get pushed back. Brilliant plan.
