From the moment Donald Trump entered the presidential race, the news media and pundits predicted his political demise. Each time his poll numbers went up instead of down, they rationalized it in irrational ways. For example, the news was flooded with Trumps supposed missteps and guffaws. But when his poll numbers went up instead of down, the pundits claimed its because hed gotten so much free publicitynever mind that the publicity had been given with the goal of making him look bad.
Im not a political analyst. This is neither a defense nor criticism of Trump or any candidate. Its a political outsiders nonscientific attempt to explain what continues to befuddle so many. The seven counterpoints to conventional wisdom as to why Trump cant win are built from conversations with regular folks and nothing more. And heres a bonus prediction based solely on these anecdotes: if Trump stays in the race, hell pick up support from Democrats, independents, African-Americans and women that will continue to befuddle his critics.
Trump cant win because

She gets it, she actually gets it!
Of more interesting is why nothing sticks to Dorkbama the Muslim (the universe’s prime example of an cretin trying to move up to idiot.
Her theories are totally correct. This journalist actually asked the people.
Amazing! She kept her opinions to herself. Amazing!
Very good analysis. All her points ring true to me. They reflect what I hear people say at the gym and in the line at Walmart.
Obama has the opposite of Trump. The media has covered for Obama from day 1.
Trump does not get that. He gets constant attacks daily. He fights back. That is part of his appeal. Some people don’t like it, but if he doesn’t fight back, nobody would like him as much.
Bingo, Sharyl!
If he gets the nomination, I will be voting for him—but actually, he leaves me cold ..
They have the mindset that their thinking is the same as every day, average Americans. That's why the pundits you see on TV are befuddled
I think one of the reason why it doesn’t stick is because Trump is out there engaging with the media and constantly giving them material to be outraged about. When the outrage material become so much, one after the other, people lost count of the things we’re meant to be outraged over. The shelf live of these outrage material last a week before we move onto another outrage material.
This is a good lesson for future Conservative. Saturate the media. One of the mistake Palin made was avoiding media (not her fault but Mccain’s campaign staff). After the Couric interview. She should’ve saturated the media with hundreds of more interviews. Mccain staff basically gave the media one month of no new material but the Couric interview to go on, which allow them to set the narrative
This similar to what I have been saying here except that she misses the the last point
It isn’t that he won’t apologize it is that he rejects the concept of PC speech. He realizes that the S***A*SED baboons (Apologies to real baboons) that are offended or pretend to be offended over innocuous statements or words with definitions (niggardly)for which they do not know the definition.
One of the biggest threat to American civilization is that the left has been allowed to define the way we speak. This means that they are impossible to argue with because they will redefine facts. By ignoring the PC speech of the left Trump is proving to be more conservative than her realizes. Taking back the language and killing the ideas of PC speech and and multi-cultural ism is the biggest issue there is.
Language define how we think. That is why it is so hard to argue with leftist because the words they use mean different things
Isn’t it absolutely amazing that less than 10 years ago there really were straight news reporters on network TV.
Reporters that could write a story about a political candidate that you could read and still have no idea what his/her politics were.
Not many but a few.
If he can get past the “new” rules the last convention put in place...I will be cheering for him too...now, NOT SO MUCH!
I sure am enjoying the ride, however!
I’m not really a Trump supporter but everything she says is correct and I will vote for him, in the general, if he makes it out of the primaries as the winner or even in the primary if my candidate isn’t in the mix when my state’s primary rolls around. Excellent analysis.
He hits me the same way.
I'm a Cruz supporter, but, provided that I am around and Cruz is off the ticket I'll have to support Trump.
I'd rather vote for a conservative, but Trump will do if needs must.

Seems kind of obvious to me why the “gotcha” stories don’t hurt Trump. Trump supporters are, number one, rebelling against the Dem/eGOP/Establishment media alliance that is pushing two tired retreads: Clinton & Bush. When supporters see stories like Trump doesn’t know the capital of Rwanda or he insults McCain — and the media thinks they have him — we all laugh at the superficial and transparent media tricks. Furthermore, we all know that these media tactics have never, never, been used against Obama. And when Trump, in effect, tells the media to shove it and calls them out on their little PC-template bs articles, most of us laugh.
I’m a Cruz guy, but I’ll roll with Trump over just about everyone else in the field.
Last night, I sat and was watching one of the oddball channels in Germany (a state-run channel), and they ran a fifteen-minute segment of the German national news from twenty years ago 9-12-1995.
It was amazing to review the story telling apparatus of 1995 versus today. They simply read off four pages the nightly news...ran a couple of video clips in the background...no acting or pleading with you for tears or enthusiasm...simply giving you plain raw news in a simple format. It was refreshing to watch.
Trump is not acting like a political player. He’s giving you a business-like character. If something’s broke....he’s not going to give you some 700-word speech. He’s going to tell you that he fired so-and-so, gave them two basic instructions on the ‘fix’, and hinted that if more people need to be fired...he’s up to the job. Frankly, that’s a fresh prospective.
If he makes it (I’m not a 100-percent on that part)...he’s going to trigger a massive problem for Republicans and Democrats in the 2018 election and the 2020 election. He’ll point out failed DC players, and just say it’s time for you....the voter....to fire this senator or representative. And I suspect....we will see a fair turn-over of both both parties in 2018.
Very powerful! But Trump is not made of Teflon. He is made of KEVLAR!
