Before Welcoming Thousands of Syrian Refugees, We Should Consider What Somali Immigrants Have...

Before Welcoming Thousands of Syrian Refugees, We Should Consider What Somali Immigrants Have Brought the U.S. Prayer service at a mosque in Minneapolis, Minn., in 2009

By IAN TUTTLE September 11, 2015 apologies to Golden Gopher fans, Minneapolis, Minn., is probably not most people’s idea of a destination city. Unless, that is, the traveler in question is Somali, in which case Minneapolis is the closest thing this side of the Atlantic to home. Thanks to American refugee-resettlement and family-reunification policies, Minneapolis has the dubious distinction of hosting the largest concentration of Somalis in the United States — some 30,000, according to census records, though Somali leaders say that underestimates the population by tens of thousands. The influx began in the 1980s, as Somalia succumbed to internal violence, and continued through the ’90s, as it was consumed by civil war.

A quarter-century later, Somalia remains among the least stable countries on Earth, and Somalis continue to come to the United States in droves. Before the Obama administration welcomes 10,000 (or more) Syrian refugees, it should consider the Somalis.

Between 1983 and 2004, the United States resettled just over 55,000 Somali refugees, 13,000 of them in 2004 alone. After a dip in the mid-2000s, Somali refugee resettlement picked back up: 27,000 Somalis entered the U.S. from 2008 to 2013, making the country the fourth-largest source of refugees in that period, behind only Burma, Iraq, and Bhutan.

NO importation of terrorists. I know Obie’s counting them by the hundreds of thousands as they come across the borders and is only waiting until enough numbers have amassed and their training is complete so he can blow the horn. No more Muslims period. I fear for our nation because we have so many gullible, indoctrinated millenials who think because they have a college degree they know best yet can’t see the incoming invasion or how its being carried out. The lightbulb hasn’t gone off in their head yet about the refugees being Muslims whens its the Christians who are the real refugees suffering at the hands of Muslims. They are the “distracted” generation and it will cost them everything if they don’t look up and pay attention soon.

Or Kyrgyzstani refugees. We couldn’t even prevent a couple of them from blowing up the Boston marathon even though the Russians warned us about them.

i’ve said before college for everyone was the worst thing to happen to this country. Nothing but indoctrination camps.

They are also an incredibly spoiled ungrateful bunch.

I’m 47. We didn’t grow up with much but we played 12 hours a day with sticks as guns and or hockey with 10 dollar sticks.

My father and uncles couldn’t afford the sticks in Brooklyn in the 1920 and early 30s but they were very happy.

My nephews and nieces have more than I could have ever imagined. Their friends have a LOT more than them and they are all spoiled liberal socialist punks!

My nephews and nieces are all at least moderately conservative and some are ultra except one who is afraid to come out of the closet to me as a liberal because he’s afraid it will be the second time I put him against the wall (the first time was for a good reason). He’s a good kid though.

Pay attention to just HOW MUCH the ILLEGAL ALIEN IN CHIEF and his IRANIAN SPY HATES CHRISTIANS !

This stinking piece of crap that's defiling our Oval Office is importing the Radical Islamists that will kill us.
When will congress get the guts tho IMPEACH, CONVICT and EXECUTE that ILLEGAL ALIEN IN CHIEF ? Also, don't forget this: I'll bet the ILLEGAL ALIEN IN CHIEF and his IRANIAN SPY are intending on EVERY ONE OF THEM to be used for importing a RADICAL ISLAMIC TERRORIST !

UNHCR data confirms it: 75% of the so-called refugees arriving in Europe are MEN.

Clinton’s fault.

He had the troops in Somalia and had the opportunity to take down the warlords. Had he had the spine to do it, Somalia might be a viable state today and we would not have a permanent Somalian welfare class.

A 1993 raid in Mogadishu by the U.S. military aimed at capturing faction leader Mohamed Farrah Aidid and the ensuing Battle of Mogadishu formed the factual basis for the 2001 film “Black Hawk Down”, a propaganda film put out to whitewash the actions of the “Former Occupant of the Oval Office, 1993-2001”.

Before there was Iraq and Gulf War II, the bungling and unwillingness to trust to the capabilities of the US military, together with poorly defined objectives, resulted in the swarm of Somalis coming to the US, rather than being absorbed by surrounding countries, and the birth of the Somali pirate trade of the Indian Ocean.

If people want to be laying blame for mischief in international waters and vast stirring unrest in Africa, that is as much at the doorstep of Slick as anybody. But strangely, none of this has stuck. Blowing up aspirin factories is a futile way to fight a war. Still, it was their major objective.

Wow.

When the Open Borders/Treason Lobby boys at National Review start doubting that it’s right to flood American neighborhoods with Third Worlders then the tide really has turned.

Well Clinton was the first Democrat president to win reelection since FDR and was canonized as a saint by the media.

One does not speak ill of a saint. It’s bad form.

"The number of Somali adults and children who participated in the state’s family cash assistance program jumped 34 percent from 2008 to 2013, to 5,950. At the same time, food assistance participation increased 98 percent, to 17,300 adults and children, which does not include U.S.-born Somalis."

Each one of these dependents on the welfare system becomes entrenched as voters for the Democrats. It is easy for the Democrats to buy votes through welfare schemes financed by the taxpayer. Taxpayer money is easy money that does not need to be raised from donations. It is also an easy way to buy a voter rather than convincing them for their vote by knocking on doors, campaign flyers and expensive TV adds.

Simple logic. The GOP gives Taxdollars to the Rats to buy votes for more Rats. The GOP has been doing this for decades. It is why they are called the stupid party. I am sure the Rats still can’t believe it works.

Taking in these refugees is akin to letting a rabid dog into your home.

So, we are worried about Syrian refugees huh? How about the total INVASION that is going on from our neighbors to the south of the border that is not being addressed at all?

The once great America is like a house that has removed all glass from the windows, removed all doors, and has placed a huge pile of cheese on the floors to attract rats...and the rats have come without any obstruction. As a matter of fact they are swarming out of control and no control is expect to come in the future.

The flavor of that cheese is “the American culture” and soon it will all be gone. 50 years from now if people my age were still alive they would have no idea which country they were in because the younger generation completely threw the American dream and lifestyle away in the name of political correctness and “feel goodism.”

We have gone too far and now gladly import the cultures that will take our culture and country down to the level of the very countries the vermin came from.

Was in Minneapolis last week. I dropped my wife off at the Mall of Somalia for some shopping while I went to retrieve some antique engine parts in Burnsville. Walking through the MOS, you wold think you were in East Africa.
Surprised they weren’t serving roasted goat in the food court.

Most Somalai refugees have been on the government(us)dole for years.

Yep, they're everywhere. Fat, buck-toothed women who look like Jabba the Hutt in tablecloths and scrawny Skeletor men with bloodshot eyes and reeking of sweat and stale tobacco (I think) smoke. A few thousand more and we can proudly call ourselves "Little Mog (adishu)."

I was wondering who was paying them to be able to leave? Historically refugees have been relatively local, but today?
